Only over the years I have been away from several women I was in Love with (including one wife) and when I got back I discovered they had been having affairs!
Couldn't have been true Love then eh?

No Hun it couldn't have been true love and it couldn't have been the right woman for you either as if that woman really loved you the way love is supposed to feel then she would have stayed faithful no matter how long you have/had been away. i cant wait to see my bf even after 3 days of being apart but i would never cheat on him no matter what. Hun you need to find the right woman for you and when you do you will know and feel it. forget about the past and look forward to the future the past will only haunt you when you do find that special person thinking about what the others have done to you and you could spoil that 1 best chance ever.

good luck Hun x

It's difficult to say, because people have needs, and some need more devotion and attention than others - it's just the way they are. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't love you (although it could), it could just be that they are needy people who find they need to have a man with them all the time, and can't handle the long distance thing.

I have to say, I have never been able to cope too well with distance relationships. It's different now that I am happily married and settled in a relationship. If he goes away, I don't feel the urge to jump into bed with another man!! But in the early days, months, of a relationship, that closeness can be essential, and if you are not there, it can really kill things.

either not true love, or an instable relationship before you even left. but if you have a stable relationship and true love, then absence does make it stronger. trust me, as a military wife, i know. i've been away from my hubby (while he's on "military business") and when he comes back it's somehow even better than before he left. but i see other women/men who's spouses leave for deployment or w/e and they were unhappy before he/she even left, and have affairs while they're gone...and some of the deployed guys/gals cheat while they're deployed.

Yes, it does. Sometimes you take for granted everyday things about your mate. My husband is on his second year long tour to Iraq right now, and we definatley both agree that it makes the heart grow fonder. Don't undertsand the people who cheat while their mates are away, don't think it was true love in the first place for them to go as far as to do that instead of miss them whil they are away.

nope, if you leave and that person moves on that means that they didn't miss you. If they were faithful then that would mean they loved you. Absence does make the heart grow fonder only when that heart is in love.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder or the flipside out of sight out of mind, i suppose it depends on how much of a romantic you are. I prefer thinking it makes the heart grow fonder! Its true for me anyway.

Short bursts of time apart makes the heart grow fonder.

But when time apart is very long, or very frequent it can die. If you have to spend time a part you really have to work hard at it.

TRUE LOVE doesn't need absence to make it stronger.
