Depending on your make & model of phone, you might have already received a data cable & software with which you can plug your phone directly into the pc & file transfer will be easy as long as the files are compatible with the devices used. If you didn't receive a data cable you will be able to buy it cheap.
The other easier option is if you have a bluetooth enabled phone as well as pc or laptop. The file transfer is quick & there is no fuss over cables & software.
You can also email the data to & from your phone if you have a pop email enabled phone with an activated service. This will cost you money for the size of the files you send/ receive.

theres one of three ways you can do it.
one -- Bluetooth::
most new phones these days are equipped with Bluetooth technology, which allows you to set up a small wireless network between Bluetooth enabled devices, such as a hands-free headset or a Bluetooth equipped computer. if your laptop/desktop/palm/etc has Bluetooth, it should be as easy as enabling it on both devices and copying the files from the computer to the phone.
Two -- removable media (trans-flash)::
some phones are equipped with a slot for removable media (such as the Samsung A900 and Motorola e815 and e815m) in the form of a Trans-Flash card. you can by a transflash card, adapter and reader at a store such as Office Depot, CompUSA or Staples, or other PC/Office supply store. because the transflash card is smaller than a standard SD card, you will need the adapter that comes with the transflash card, as well as an USB SD card reader (usually sold separately).
once the transflash card is in the reader and its plugged into your USB port, it should show up as an extra hard-drive under "My Computer". from there just copy the files to the drive.
Three -- USB Cable:
most phones have a USB or Firewire cable that comes with the phone (or is sold separately) that allows your phone to be directly linked to your computer. the phone is then identified by the computer as being a removable drive, and should allow you to copy all you wish directly to the phones memory.
Please note that if you have a Verizon Wireless phone, you will not be able to transfer any kind of media to your phone without using Verizon's V-Cast feature, or hacking your phone (NOT reccomended). Verizon locks all the media-transfer protocols on the phone so that if you wish to do so, you have to pay the company for anything you download.
