Thanks to all those that have already moved to Britain and thanks to those planning on moving shortly. You have created a few job opportunities for those who stayed behind. Take care and enjoy your life in a very dull Britain. While we will enjoy the sun shine, braai vleis, lovely beaches, beautiful scenery and much, much more.

Why Britain?
Well, let's get the climate out of the way first. Not every South African is a huge fan of roasting in the sun and living in humidity so bad that you spend 9 months of the the year hot and sweaty - or else running between the house and car air conditioning. I absolutely love having 4 distinct seasons in the UK. I love the excitement of the first snowfall of the year and having to scrape the first frost from your car - and how romantic is it waking up to a new white world on Christmas Day?! There is heat - 35 degrees and above this summer - but it isn't constant and exhausting. Give me the Engish climate any day.
Someone in an answer above referred to Britain as boring. How can it possibly be boring when there are so many amazing things contained in this one, relatively small country? The museums in London alone could occupy you for years - not to mention Stonehenge, Westminster Abbey, the Scottish Highlands, ancient castles, stunning coastlines - and I could go on. There is also a very alert media - a tradition of quality journalism and an intellectual tradition that translates into intelligent newspapers (alongside the tabloids) and wonderful tv programmes.
As for the people - initially they may seem a bit odd to some South Africans. And, yes, recent years has seen the rise of the yob culture. But the quintessential Brit is still a basically tolerant and fair minded individual. and there is a degree of stoicism in his make-up too. They may whinge about the rain - but give them a world war or other national crisis to cope with and they just get on with it.
There's also the proximity to Europe and the ease of travel to the US. Most Brits enjoy at least one holiday abroad a year - a near impossibility for the average South African.
On your point regarding Brits leaving because of immigrants, I think you will find that their biggest problem is with immigrants who enter the country and then continue to live as if they were still in their native land. In some communities, it's not uncommon for people who have been here more than 30 years not to be able to speak English. They don't integrate and scorn British values. This doesn't apply to the vast majority of South Africans, so we're accepted and welcomed by just about everyone here.
There are few places more appropriate for emigrating South Africans to land.

Well, the obvious answer would be to try and have themselves a better lifestyle.
Many of these people would quite obviously prefer to stay in SA since it is without question a beautiful country. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they feel that it is necessary to emigrate.
These would include amongst others the disgustingly high crime and lack of job opportunities.
Whether people would like to admit it or not, these are serious problems and would most definitely force some people to look for greener pastures.
Several other countries welcome South Africans since we are well-known for our good work-ethic and have an abundance of skills. For example, qualified engineers who wish to offer their services will find it much much easier to land themselves a job in Australia than in SA. If a person is unable to find a job in SA, one cannot blame him/her for looking elsewhere where their skills are appreciated.
With regards to England, although the weather can certainly not be comapred to SA, the general culture is reasonably similar which allows a South African to integrate themselves more easily into their society.
Regardless of what certain people think - and in particular the safety and security minister - SA is worse off for losing over 1million white South Aficans in the last decade.

Ayiza you raise some interesting points there like for instance if the Afrikaner joined the ANC and by doing so also having a voice, i personally can't see how that would benefit them. The Afrikaner has always had a very strong cultural identity especially when it comes to religion, language and tradition no i am afraid it's over bar the shouting , they won't die out they will start the groot trek again else where and be a proud people again that's in their nature.

I guess if I was rich, had my own company, three vehicles in the garage, could afford 24 hour security and alarm systems and don't have to apply for jobs knowing that I will get turned down because of the colour of my skin, I would probably also ask these kind of ignorant questions.
Be grateful for your fortunate financial position. Very few South Africans are in a position where we can afford to avoid job hunting, theft and hunger, due to lack of funds. Stop trying to pretend that you know what most South Africans go through from day to day, Gunner, coz you're obviously living in a protected little world of your own.

why do they emigrate to britain or australia or america.Firstly its the language cause they speak english over in those countries and im sure they have found better opportunities in those countries rather than their own.ie, more money, better job benifits and most of all safety.
