I go to Desert Vista High School (it's already been mentioned). It's a great school academically, and it is notoriously good at 800 scores on the Math portion of the SAT. My mother was a founding staff member and it was built by people who all had their own kids in mind when they set up the school. My sister went through DV and now is at Harvard, and I am on thespeech and debate team that had just dominated every single in state tournament there is. All in all, DV is the best public school in Arizona. The middle school that primarily feeds into DV is Akimel, and it;s good too, but the district it's in (Kyrene) drastically changed resently and it is, in my opinion, weaker in it's new schedule and set up. I think that in Arizona, Kyrene still is a good district because the sad reality is that AZ is terrible in terms of education. Auwatukkee is a great area to be if you have the funds, and they have the best schools in the state.

Kyrene (Ahwatukee) & Scottsdale districts have the best overall ratings; however, I think that is in part to the fact that they are also areas with residents of higher income and education themselves. Parental involvement makes a big difference. You can check out and compare schools at:

Stay away from the South & West sides, also heard Maricopa & Queen Creek have horrible schools. In AZ though, we have an 'open enrollment/ boundaries' legislation that allows you to send your child to any school you choose, so you do not have to go to the one near your home, as long as there is space available at that school. Also lots of good charter schools around these days.

Ahwatukee is a great area...very close knit community, lots of extra curricular activites etc. I can only speak of high schools in the area, Desert Vista is a good one near by. I have a neighbor who has a girl (14yrs) and she loves her school. Google Ahwatukee and see what you think. Its 30min from downtown...10min from the 10 freeway...and far enough away from Phoenix you dont feel like you are in the middle of the city

Well gilbert is good. gilbert schools are good. mesa is ok as long as you live in GPS(gilbert public schools) district. No offence to any mesa schools but they suck. I suggest HJHS (highland junior high school) and for high school HHS(highland high school) here the website for GPS:http://www.gilbert.k12.az.us/index.html
check it out.
hope that helps
