Yes indeed mate. You're 100% right. It all started in the 80's but has become much much worse now with the 24hr newsmedia and the way that technology has exploded.

How do I know that you're not the moderator of this fictional reality asking the question to find out whether or not the hypnotism is really working?

But seriously, no, I don't think I'm being hypnotised by the media as the standard of reporting in both the televised news and the newspapers has noticeably 'dumbed down' in recent years. So much so that I usually switch off. I don't watch reality TV, I'd rather stick forks into my eyes. I don't watch soaps, my life is already exciting enough! The only stuff I do watch are films, dramas and kids programmes (with my 2 year old). although these are quite scary ...

No I'm not. If you can think for yourself you don't need to be taken in by the media.

The media do serve a purpose in that they are like a dog with a bone when they have a good story and many a government has squirmed under their scrutiny when trying to bury some fact or other.

In the main we observe the world around us and the media serves as a window to that. Unless we are directly involved in a reported event then we are only observers and not "living the fictional reality". Some people of course are stupid enough to believe that everything they see on TV is real, hence soap stars being accosted in the street when they have a controversial story line.

Agree with thought, something on the lines of Film The Matrix.Far to much speculation and not enough sound facts both in media & t.v.plus many of t.v programs tend to centre around the negative things in life there is some good news out there it just never gets much reporting the same can be said of t.v drama/soaps.
Is the negative fiction breeding a negative reality?

I guess if you were an avid TV and media viewer/listener that it would be possible to be hypnotised. Although if we were would we know it and would we be able to answer yes we are or no we aren't. What if those who were controlling the content of the hypnosis predicted that this question would be asked and that we are all programmed to answer " no, not me" ?

Lots to think about huh?

I'm not, but I'm sure a lot of people are. They won't be reading this question either-they'll be glued to the boob-tube! For a lot of people-monkeySEE, monkey-DO, and they try to BE what they see....the media is a 'sign of our times'....and if you aren't up on things, then you're lost....left behind. 'Fictional Reality', is really a contradiction in terms....fiction isn't real...and reality-omg everybody has their own version of that!

personally, no. everyone is affected by the media to a certain extent (generally negatively). this isnt to say were all brain washed by it - i think "hypnotised into a fictional reality" is taking it a bit too far. however, i definitely think western media is shallow and corporate and evil. i dont like it! especially these adverts with slogans like "my wrinkles are fulfilled, and so is my life", "if you dont like your body, change it", or my personal favourite "maybe its whats on the outside that counts".
