There is no BEST. At any given moment, the BEST list changes. However, it is BEST if there is a great diversity in solutions, so some people are protected one way, and others are protected another way. This diversity would STOP the replication of many viruses; which would run WILD among a group of people that foolishly collaborate and use the identical protection product.
Good Luck and Happy Computing!

Avast anitvirus is the best in my opinion. It updates whenever there is a new virus threat. You can run the virus scanner whenever you want to check your system. The best thing about this scanner is that it does NOT bogg down your system. I have had Norton before and I wouldn't get it again even if it were the only system on the market. Norton would make my system slow slow slow. I couldn't figure it out until I thought it was the Norton system. I uninstalled it and WOW my system was fast again. Another great feature about Avast is that it is FREE. I have had it for at least 3 years now. Just go to www.avast.com and check it out for yourself. They do have a Professional version of it but it is for businesses. Hope this helps..

Hi there,
Instead of all these "Mine is better than yours" answers that go on around here, I'll instead answer with the facts.
Looking at current protection ratings, AVG scores a lowly 90% protection against all known viruses, whilst Avast comes in at 92%. This means they are letting through roughly one in every ten viruses - pretty shocking.
Norton and McAfee are slightly better by protecting against 98.3% and circa 97% respectfully of all known viruses. However, Norton and McAfee can be known for being very heavy programs which can tend to slow down certain machines. If you are thinking of installing either of these I would definitely recommend you download their free trial to check it does not affect your machine in this way prior to opening your wallet.
If you would be interested in other Security products that are better than all of these, you should try either Prevx1, Kaspersky or F-Secure who all score over a 99% protection rating.
Out of these three my recommendation would be Prevx1, as this is the quickest at protecting against new outbreaks of malware.

Dont go for any esp. panda
panda has only good graphics and sound , not good at detection,
Kaspersky is the best, according to a survey conducted by CNet..
Norton drags the system and makes it too slow.

AVG is one of the oldest anti-virus programs out there, and it is the company which has the best experience in that field, so i would recommend it very much. and on top of all that it really never slows down the pc.
