its very easy to assemble a PC

step 1: Just check whats the config u want.
ex; Pentium d 2.8, 512mb ddr2 ram, d102 or d945 motherboard, 160 gb sata hdd, 1 dvdrw, cabinet, keyboard, mouse, monitor.

you will get the guide with motherboard. using that u can easily find out.
step 2: now a days all cabinets are coming with fitted SMPS or else just fit the smps at the top of the cabinet (back side).

step3: just take out the motherboard & processor, connect the processor with board on slot and on above just insert the heat sinker fan.

step4: keep the mother board inside the cabinet and check the appropriate screw holes and fit the screws.

step5: connect the the 24 pins wire out from smps to mother board.

step6: fit hard disk, dvdrw at the slots in cabinet and connect them to mother board.

step7; just insert the ram.

step8: just check the motherboard guide to connect the front panel. like powersw,

haha. u need mainboard, processor, powersupply, cd drive, harddisk, casing, RAM, video/sound/graphic/ network card (optional if they are already in the mainboard).

go www.hardwarezone.com to check it all out.

you can build it without basic knowledge because the mainboard comes with a instruction booklet.

BIOS settings are important. U cant start up a comp properly without setting the bios correctly

1. Motherboard with SATA ports and IDE ports with PCI-E X16 slot for graphics.

For AMD:Socket AM2 would be a good choice.
Here is an example of a good motherboard with CPU it is a good deal also Foxconn NF4K8MC-EKRS NVIDIA Socket AM2 MicroATX Motherboard and an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.40GHz OEM Processor 202 Tigerdirect.com http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2727854&CatId=2417

For Intel Socket 775 with support for Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 would be a good choice. Look at this one: MSI 945P Neo3-F Intel Socket 775 ATX
Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / Gigabit LAN / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA 83 Tigerdirect.com

This way when you assemble the computer it will not all be obsolete so quickly if you use the latest technology.

2. Case, I would reccomend this case Power Up 2525 Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with an Ultra V-Series 500 Watt Power Supply. 80 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1647191&CatId=1845

3. Power Supply, don't skimp on this part get a good one that has upgrade options with it when you get it so you will not outgrow it so fast.

4. Hard Drive (Not needed if you are going to be running a copy of a live linux cd or dvd) The hard drive will use either SCSI, IDE, or SATA. I would reccomend this hard drive:
Western Digital / RaptorX / 150GB / 10K / 16MB / SATA-150 / OEM / Hard Drive 240 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2368644&CatId=139

If you can't afford that one here is a good one: Western Digital /
Caviar SE 16 / 250GB / 7200 / 16MB / SATA-300 / OEM / Hard Drive 85 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2179837&CatId=2458

5. CD-ROM drive, CD-R/RW drive or DVD-ROM drive, DVD- R/RW drive that uses either IDE or SATA port. I would reccomend a DVD burner like this one:
Lite-on SHW-160P6S / 16x DVD±R Read / 16x DVD±R Burn / 8x DVD+RW / 6x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 4x DVD-R DL / 48x24x CD-R/RW / Black/Beige / Internal / DVD Burner - Retail 45 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1740403&CatId=0

6. CPU has to be compatible with the motherboard For AMD:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.40GHz / 1MB Cache / 1000MHz FSB / SanDiego

Core / Socket 939 / OEM / Processor this CPU comes with the
motherboard 202 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2727854&CatId=2417

For Intel:
Intel Pentium D 925 3.0GHz / 4MB Cache / 800MHz FSB / Dual- Core / Presler / OEM / Socket 775 / Processor 150 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2525999

7. Sound Card both motherboards I metioned have onboard sound card but if you want better sound you will need to get a sound card. If you do any gaming, listening to music or play DVD'S you will probably want

a better sound card. This one should do pretty good:Creative Labs

Sound Blaster Audigy SE 35 Tigerdirect.com http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1870098&CatId=0

8. LAN Card both motherboards I showed you have built-in LAN card.

9. Video Card, you want to go with a video card that is PCI-E x16.

Here is a good one: EVGA GeForce 7600 GS / 512MB GDDR2 / SLI / PCI Express / DVI / VGA / HDTV / Video Card 150 Tigerdirect.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2219521&CatId=0

10. Memory both motherboards I mentioned take DDR2 RAM Memory you will want to get 2 1GB sticks if you can afford it here they are: OCZ

Gold XTC 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory 110, 220 total Tigerdirect.com
