Wake every body up.Brew up and open pressies.Faff about with gifts , squirt on scent, write name in new diary have a good laugh at what the sister in law has come up with this year. Part cook veg Go down the pub----first ones on the landlord!Nip home to put the roasties and stuffing in the oven.Back to pub.Home just in time to save the spuds from burning .Merrily dish it all out and tuck in.Realise eldest son is missing ,find him snoring in his pit, pull cracker in his ear to no avail so leave paper hat and turkey butty next to his bed.Crash out on settee.Wake up hit the nuts and tin of roses. We're fed up now and wonder which pubs open but feel a bit sick so stop in,besides its cold! Big son has returned to the land of the living and wants to play trivial pursuit because he always wins.Eat turkey butty with apple sauce and stuffing then retire for a well earned rest. We'll hoover up the nut shells and wash up tomorrow!! Same thing every year.Bet you wish you'd never asked!!

Well, I teach English in a foreign country where most people don't celebrate Christmas. My Christmas day has been different every year. One year I spent it going to a big school play and then traveling and then going to a big party with coworkers I did not know very well. NOT fun. But I still love Christmas. I've just quit expecting the typical Christmas day that I had growing up. Instead I enjoy every little "Christmas moment" that happens to come my way.

A typical Christmas begins with me getting up around 5 AM. I stuff the turkey and get it in the oven, turn on the Christmas lights, christmas tunes and sit back and enjoy the solitude. Then everyone else gets up, we sit and chat for a few minutes, then start opening gifts. By that time, the phone has rang about 30 times!. Then we have a light breakfast and start getting things ready for a big dinner. Once dinner is over, usually around 4, we go for a long walk to try and get rid of excess calories. Merry Christmas to you

My brother and I get up at around 7:30 and go downstairs to see the presents around our tree. We squeal with joy and try to figure out what's inside all the boxes by reading the tags (my parents put stuff like To: Stargirl From: Shakespeare last year, when I got a collected works of Shakespeare book) Then we wake up our parents and drag them downstairs. My brother and I each open ONE present. Then my parents go into the kitchen to make stollen and eggs for breakfast. My aunts and uncles come over at around 8:30 or 9:00, bringing gifts for all of us. They don't have any children, so we're really the kids of the family. Then we ALL open our presents until around 2:00 or 3:00, while watching the Yule Log, Frosty the Snowman, or Rudolph on TV in the background. We go into the dining room to have what seems like a Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey is the main dish. Then, after an early dinner, we go open all the gifts in our STOCKINGS. Those are always saved for after dinner :) We usually get each other crappy little gag gifts. It's really funny. Finally, after everyone leaves, my family reads Christmas books by the fire until we go to sleep. And that's just Christmas at home. If I had enough space, I would tell you about the Christmastime we spend with my cousins and other aunts and uncles on my dad's side of the family, who live a bit far away. But that's Christmas to me :)

we get up around 8am.. the kids are up from 5 or 6am, but as we dont usually get to be til 3am... its compromise.

the girls only open their stockings, and settle down with the telly til we surface...

then we open our presents together, and the madness begins.
part 1 is where we turn the telly off..and it stays off all day
part 2 is after dinner, when we all take the lurchers over the fields for a couple of miles running around
pt 3 is..well when youve just walked a couple of miles in freezing weather..the house is warm, smells incredible.. and is so welcoming..., then its teatime...
and pt 4 is a nice quiet evening, with friends who would otherwise be alone...

weve done this since the squids were little, eldest is now 16, and we dont have arguments, fights or squabbles.. which is why the telly gets turned off.

the girls like it, we like and so do the friends we invite... its as traditional as you can get in 2006...

goodwill to all.

very lazy day, all family is already here from Christmas eve, me and my mum get up, i open my stocking while waiting for everyone else to surface, everyone slowly gets up around 8-9am everyone is up, mum will make everyone a cup of tea and toast, once every ones eaten, bucks fizz will be poured, i will then get under the tree and hand out presents, once all presents have been given out, everyone will start to open them, pets join in as well!!
once presents have been opened all women usually join in and help around with the Christmas lunch, that's eaten and every ones stuffed with food and wine, so some sleep while me and mum start to make a little buffet for later, people rise again and time for drinks and games (usual board games, ones that embarrass you). all in all Christmas is a great day!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!

plan to wake up very early.

end up waking up late.

everyone crowds around the tree in anticipation as dad hands out the presents (santas is last)

after unwrapping, showers and breakfast.

then around the corner to my aunts house, where "expert" cricket and waterpolo games will take place, too much food, waterbomb attacks, and lets not forget more presents! (handed out by my grandad)

then, everyone comes home tired and full.

no dinner is eaten.

everyone discusses family gossip and plays with their christmas presents.

i love christmas!!!
