If the steering wheels judders at anyspeed you have a suspension problem. Either bad balljoints or bad strut. You need to get to the bottom of this. Or you have a tire that is WAY WAY out of balance or broken belts, but you say the tires have been checked.

Possible a bent rim... you say a tire has a split in it... check that rim for a bend, it doesnt have to be bent very much to do this.

If the steering wheel only judders at certain speeds and not below or above that speed then you just have a tire out of balance.

Is there any knocking or clunking when going slow over cobblestone or potholes?

Have the mechanic look at the suspension before it breaks.

Happy Holidays.

Just because the tires look ok does'nt mean they are, they could (depending on the construction) have broken or shifted nylon or steel belts which will create an uneven surface on the tire, you mentioned a "split" that could mean the tire are badly dryrotted and becoming brittle.
If you dont like this mechanic for whatever reason ask around among friends and family to see who they use and feel is a good mechanic.
Some things that will need to be checked in addition to the tires:
Alignment
Tie Rod Ends
Ball Joints
Idler Arm(if equipped)
Pitman Arm (if equipped)
Steering Dampner (if equipped)
shocks/struts/springs
steering gear or steering rack (depending on vehicle)

she probably bumped into something hard with the tires or rode down a rough road that jared the front end . you probably need a front end alignment they run from 40 to 80 dollars and your car should ride alot smoother and also check the tire balance you may have knocked off a weight but its most likely the front end

Have your tires balaned and then a front end alignment. When the mechanic does the alignment he will check for worn suspension parts.

If you replaced the tyres, get the tracking done.

Maybe you need to replace your struts, they may be worn.
