I remember watching a cartoon about 10 years ago on British TV in the morning which I loved and no one apart from my brother seems to remember it. The cartoon was about space battles, which involved single person spacecraft which the pilots controlled by directly wiring them up to their brain.
I seem to remember one of the enemy groups in the cartoon which later joined sides with the good guys were called "Pirates" or something along those lines, but I'm really not sure.

i think i know the cartoon, it's not a cartoon, it's an anime!! it could b the "last exile' or "GHOST SHIP"
check out all the anime forums 2 get the clear conception of the cartoon ur looking 4!!
u said it's a british tv, so it might not b anime!! but the 2 anime i have mentioned have similar space batttle of describtion!!
