i had a m/c in july and have been trying again since. i went back onto a regular cycle straight away, but the 2nd month started spotting for 2 days before i came on. the the past 3 months i've had 5-9 days of spotting with only 1 or 2 days of what i'm used to as a normal period. i don't know if the normal bleed is day 1 of my cycle, or the 1st day of spotting so i don't know when i'm fertile! it does always start at the same time each month so i'm regular in that respect!

What you are experiencing is normal. I have had two miscarriages and my cycle has been changed radically by them. Lots of spotting could be an indication of a luteal phase deficiency. This is quite common and could have caused your miscarriage. The best thing to do is chart your cycle.

Take your temperature every morning when you wake up. It will rise slightly when you ovulate (around the middle of your cycle) and will stay higher until your next period. You luteal phase is the number of days between the day your temperature rises and the first day of your last period, it will be the same for every cycle. Most women average 12-16 days, if your is less than 10 then you should see a doctor.

Research has shown that taking vitamin B6 can increase your luteal phase by increasing progesterone production. More info on this can be found in 'Fertility Cycles and Nutrition' by Marilyn Shannon. www.ccli.org/store

Good luck!

Firstly so sorry for your loss. This has happened to me except the m/c. My last 3 cycles have started with brown spotting then followed by 2 days of red flow [very light flow]. It could be due to hormone problems which I have but im going 2 go 2 drs after xmas 2 have a word with the dr as some people say its normal and others say not so im getting it checked out. I think you should 2 if your worried and then it will put your mind at rest, try not to worry too much and have a good xmas. I also think the post above me is giving good advice

When I was going through fertility treatments 5 years ago, I believe the dr.s told me your first day of period is when it's steady, not spotting. I had to know which was first day because I'd have to start a pill cycle several days after the first day so the spotting would confuse me too. Hope this helps.
