Inbound and outbound refers to the direction of the calls.
Outbound is calls going to potential clients, usually involving sales. Inbound is usually more like a help desk where people call in to get service, help ,or information.
Working in a call center often requires computer skills, and above average communication skills.

A call center is a place where people sit in front of computers and take calls (inbound) or make calls (outbound) for other businesses that hire that call center to particular tasks for them. Shari's Berries has call centers take orders for them. Britesmile has call centers get credit card numbers for them and order the whitening pen. Cox cable has call centers make telemarketing calls (outbound) to their customers, asking if they want to upgrade by buying a movie channel package. SBC has call centers set up phone lines with options for call waiting, 3 way calling, etc. and assign phone numbers. MANY businesses use call centers. The workers are usually given a somewhat low base-pay and the rest commission on the number of sells they make.

Call Centers are Customer Care Centers, where people aid customers, and handle their queeries, complaints, etc via phone conversation.

Inbound is when customers call in to the call center, with their queeries and complaints. It is usually done for example in the case of Hutch and Orange Telephone Services... when customers call with queeries about their bills, payments, etc.

Outbound is when call center employees place calls to customers OR prospective customers. These calls are generally, but not with exception, marketing calls.

GoodLuck!
