carrie is about a girl who is totally controlled by her religiously fanatical mother. carrie is so frustrated by life that she realizes she has telekinetic powers. she uses these powers to revenge anyone who stands in her way.
it's an ok book but lacks the total terror that king is capable of bringing to the page.

Carrie is about the many crisis that we through in adolescence from the pimples to the periods, the coalition between parents (although Carrie's mother is psychotic) The abuse and sneers we get from peers and bullies. For there is not one teenager in the history of the world that has not been ridiculed by other people; girls, the teachers, boys, some parents, etc. What Stephen King does in his novel Carrie is for his heroine get pushed to the level in which she exacts revenge on all those who have made her suffer, by the use of her telekinetic powers, which is wrong, but it gives the reader a feeling of satisfaction, in a way to go mode. For when we were kids did we not wish that we could get even with our oppressors? Or put them on their place somehow? If you have read Stephen King's books, you will notice it is a common theme, "It" his short story "The Body" or the movie "Stand By Me" and others, the young children in the adventures always have to deal with evil in the form of something bad going on, on having to defend themselves from the ever present bullies. So King gets even for all of us, by getting Carrie to roast them all in a school gym.

The mother is into witch craft and wants carrie to follow in her footsteps. Carrie is sheltered, and therefore much different and less experienced than the girls her age. As a prank, the hottest guy in school asks her to the prom. He finds out he really likes her. They are voted prom king and queen and the mean girls drop a bucket of pigs blood on her. She freaks out and her witchy powers come out. It's a classic. Carrie 2 is okay also.

Carrie is a teenage girl with telepathic power but is severely supressed by her overzealous religious mother who is crazy. Its like teen rebellion with a twist. Her girl peers make fun of her and pick on her. She rebels against her mother and goes to the prom with a guy. One girl in particular arranges for a bucket of pig blood to dump out on her at the prom, Carrie unleashes her power, and the place catches on fire.

It's about a teenage girl who is constantly bullied and abused by her mother and classmates. She begins to exhibit psycho-kenetic powers as a result of her pent-up anger and her adolesent developement. She eventually lashes out at everyone around her.
The original movie with Sissy Spacek is excellent, but the book is far better.

It's an excellent book, and a very good movie. The first poster described it very well. In my opinion, it's one of the best horror movies made.
