A fluttering butterfly feeling to start with and then the feeling progresses. It's a lovely sensation once you recognise it. My unborn baby would eventually let me know which music he liked by a gentle movement and if he didn't like it a big lurch forward which made my tummy look very pointed. If you have any doubts don't hesitate to have a word with your midwife and she will put your mind at ease. After all that is her job! Enjoy every minute of being special and have a lovely lovely baby. xxx

You should be feeling little "flutters" against your inner abdomen soon. It's not a tremendous movement at first - more like a butterfly moving inside you - and you're not sure if it's "kicking" - but soon you WILL know for sure! (The first time I felt "something" was when I was sitting still, listening to music.) Also, you will learn that baby often sleeps while you're awake and moves while you're sleeping - makes sense, really, because you're "rocking" baby while you move....which also explains a newborn's "confusion" between night and day.
If you have had an ultra sound and everything showed up well, don't worry. Also, sometimes the doctor gets the date wrong (really!) so any time between the 20-25 week gestation you'll probably start feeling some little movements. It's not a huge nudge into your side (at first) but just wait until the 7th or 8th month! then it'll feel as if an alien has invaded your insides! Best to you and your new family!!!

Everyone is different. Some people are also more aware than othere of what they feel. I didn't feel me first 'real kick-movement' untill I was just gone 24 weeks. Before that I always felt something although I couldn't recognise it as a movement as i'd never carried a baby before. Be patient. When the baby starts running out of room you will soon know and you will be a ble to distinguish the movements. In fact, once they start it feels like the're having a party in there.
Good luck and congratulations with your pregnancy.
You couls also go to your Dr and he/she can check for the heartbeat to put your mind at rest.

My baby refused to move and then it started jumping about when the midwife put a monitor to count the movements going on in there i couldn't feel all of them and i was 21 weeks. There are ways to make your baby move if you have a large glass of water or eat something small the baby starts to move. If your really concerned go to the midwife and ask for a montior which prints out a graph with the kick count. Also they may give you a scan to show you the heartbeat to put your own mind to rest. Just relax you'll need your energy for when the baby comes!! Good Luck to you

If this your first then it may be hard to recognise the movements especially if baby is placid. Lay down and relax and wait to see if you feel anything at all, even what feels like 'bubbles' in your tummy. Oh and have something sweet to eat 10 minutes beforehand. If you still don't feel anything in a few weeks then mention it to your doc. But don't panic! All the best!

that depends on the baby, it could be moving but you just cant feel it. My daughter started moving quite early but my sister in law didnt know she was pregnant until 7 months, she didnt feel the baby move, was still taking the pill etc but baby was fine. she onyl found out when her clothes stopped fitting her (she didnt get very big)
Have you had an ultasound or had the heart beat checked? if not get it checked just to be sure.

You don't always feel it at first. To start with you don't feel proper kicks but more of a 'wind' feeling. Have you had a scan? I had a scan at 20 weeks and my baby was leaping all over the place but I couldn't feel it at all. Give it time and you'll feel it.

by this time you should have felt something. but it all depends where the baby is lying and if its your first pregnancy.
if its your first pregnancy you may have been feeling movements but just didn't recognise them for what they were. if you are worried talk to your midwife and I'm sure she will be able to put your mind at ease.
i wish you all the best

You should be feeling kicks by now. It could well be nothing to worry about, maybe you just don't recognise the signs, but you should tell your midwife.

i felt my bubs move at 20 wks, you may feel it and not realise it, i thought, surley that isnt the baby, but it was, please dont think im being rude, but if you are carrying a little bit of extra weight, that may be the reason you are not feeling it yet, all the best with your bubs!
