I do not have a neighbor besides my mother-in-law. The nearest person to us is a little over 3/4 mile away. I live in the country.
I greet maw, (as she likes to be called), so I would greet you if you were a neighbor.
You would have to watch out for my pets though, my black labs like to lick people, my many variety of chickens are curious and would surround you and my peafowl would probably honk so loud, you would cover your ears. If that wasn't enough, my house cats would probably try to jump in your arms and my house dog would literally run around and around you!
Your visits would never be boring!
Happy Holidays!

That is polite and gracious. Even if you never visit each other or dine together, they will always have your back if a stranger or someone weird shows up to your house. Dily courtesy my save your life. Be neighborly but not over frienly unless they initiate something. People re skeptical at first nd prefer to do the inviting.

No I am a fan of the familiar stranger thing. Meaning I see you I notice you I have probably seen you numerous times before. But I would not care to waste time yakking.

If I awoke with you next to me though I would say.. hey!

If you were a nice neighbor yes.
I have two sets of neighbors.
One is friendly and open the others are shrieking drunks.
I don't talk to the drunks.

Yes I would. By now I would have given you a nice plate of Christmas treats and a Christmas card. I would check on your house and water your lawn while you were out of town. Yes I love my neighbors. They watch out for me.

Hi, how are you?

Morning, afternoon and evening, absolutely. That's what turns a bunch of grouped-together houses into a neighbourhood.
