Dinosaures and flying "dinosaures" (like pterodactyles) resemble dragons a lot, don't they? So that is what created this idea in the mind of supersticious medieval people. Of course, dinosaures had vanished before then, but it is posible that bones or skeletons were found, that made the imagination travel...

Im not sure if there is hard core facts but where did the idea come from when there are statues of dragons dating thousands years ago just because we have no scientific proof doesnt mean that they do not exist

yes!!! the proof is the fact that civilizations all over the world believed in some kind of dragon-like creature before the explorers started going to other lands, other proof is in museums people call them dinosaurs

yes i think they do exist they can find some parts in ice places infact crocodiles are dragons like when the world got blown to peices the dragons swam in water and turned out as crocs from generation to generation thats hw they involved cause when u look into a dragons mouth it has the same opening as a croc has

The species, "Dragon", does not exist.
Just like, "big foot", or "lock ness monster" do not exist.

I don't know if they once existed, but I think it fascinating to see that almost every culture has a story about them. England, China, Japan, Scotland. You will find story's about them dating back across land and culture.
