I am looking to start up a handicraft import/export/wholesale business on my return to the UK.

I'm currently travelling around Africa approaching businesses looking for partners.

I would like to give the people i meet a business card with my name on, and my "job title".

E.G Aaron Carson - Import/Export Manager - Africa

I'm not sure what my job title would be?...I'm looking for business leads, buying samples and arranging for exportation to the uk.

Thanks!

It is never a good idea to hand out cards saying "Business Owner" or "President". All you are doing is giving every salesguy in the world a target to call you and waste your time. Also, then you never have an out of, "I've got to clear this deal with the owner," because they know it's you.

I would call myself, Director of Business Development, because that is what you are doing.

Good luck!

Hi, I have an import business in the US--I would put "owner" or "proprietor" and then put a mission statement about your business--like "importing and exporting the finest xyz from this part of the world" so they know what your business is all about. Personally (this might sound snotty) but when I deal with people from other countries, I sometimes feel uneasy if I'm not dealing with the owner..or at least redirected through the owner to someone else (it depends how big the export houses are you're dealing with).. feel free to email me if you have other questions.. I'm interested to know what crafts you're dealing in!

I'm not familiar with titles in the UK, but some standard US titles:
Director of Purchasing
Purchasing Manager
Purchasing Manager, Africa

check monster.com using the keywords purchasing, procurement and international
