I believe average global temperatures have increased during the past 200 years or so, this has been measured. I also believe that average global temperatures decreased significantly about 700 years ago (i.e. global cooling).
And, I believe this is all natural and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

There is a lot of debate on man's contribution to global warming. The evidence is fairly compelling that the earth is in a warming trend, but what caused it is not proven. Certainly the CO2 we put out seems to contribute, but are CO2 levels really that high? The earth has had many periods in prehistoric times when it was hotter than now, and usually warmer climate leads to success of species not failure. I know I'm enjoying this warmer than normal winter.
The real question could be in global warming good or bad? The answer as with any change; it will be good for some and bad for others. Those who adapt will thrive, and thus we and all other species continue our evolution.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases.
Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest.
(see links below)
How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.
There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.
Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.
Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

No and to Beetlet take a look at who is doing the so call scientific evidence gathering and listen to them talk and you just might notice even they call it a theory and they say that it hasn't been proven and we won't see any effects for about 100 yrs, ( long after they are gone so they won't see or suffer the consequences of their actions) and that they have an underlying political agenda for promoting the idea. It's the same crowd of socialist that claimed we would be in an iceage by the 90 back in 1973. Oh yeah it is been in the low 30's in Los Angeles at night this week, Suuuurrrre Global Warming

Yes I believe the Earth is warming. This month's issue of Discover magazine had a pretty impressive list of changes in the Earth. Whether this increase in temperture is the result of man's activities or a natural occurence is really immaterial. We're past the point of being able to impact the outcome.. It's a magic carpet ride to hell now.

I'm not sure if it is a case of believing. The evidence is there to prove that it is happening and that isn't generally disputed anymore unlike a few years ago. I think the debate lies in whether man has a significant effect on global warming or would it have occurred without mans intervention.

And so we should take your unfounded and unresearched opinion over the results of many indepth studies conducted by some of the world's top sciencetists which show the effect of things like pollution on the environment and our atmospthere? These studies which are backed by many countries and governments in the world including Britian and the U.S.? Riiight. Want to tell us how to attain world peace while you're at it?

Certainly not, just type global warming into the yahoo search, you will find more answers against than for.
It's a great way for the government to raise taxes without actually spending on anything.

I did see a docu on PBS that discussed the possibility of the poles flipping, which has occurred in the past, and caused similar environmental reactions. I say it could be real, but other things could be further investigated for scientific truth. Either way, it would only benefit us to be more aware of our life support and not go the way of Easter Island.

We were just talking about this last night...
Not quite sure I believe entirely however here is a site this has cold and hot temperatures records, history seems to repeat itself.
I copied one paragraph from the site below, really makes you wonder.
...CHICAGO... DECEMBER 19, 1877: CHICAGO EXPERIENCED A WARM SPELL AS HIGH TEMPERATURES ON THIS DATE CLIMBED UP TO 64 DEGREES. THIS ENDED
UP SETTING A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORD. LIKEWISE THE LOW ONLY
DROPPED TO 57...ESTABLISHING A RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE.
THESE TEMPERATURES AIDED 1877 IN BEING THE WARMEST DECEMBER ON
RECORD WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 43.4 DEGREES. THIS IS
16.0 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL AVERAGE DECEMBER TEMPERATURE.
