Does any government have a "right to exist"? Can states or governments have rights? Or can only individuals have rights? Can groups of people have "special rights" based on their membership in that group that other individuals do not have, such as the "right" of Jews to have an exclusive state just for them? What if other ethnic groups tried this? What if blacks or whites declared that they had a "right" to their own exclusive state that non-members of their group did not have? Isn't Zionism just another brand of identity entitlement politics?

When you say "they have as much right as any other government" you are getting to the crux of the question. Do government's have rights?

And do "we" choose "our" leaders? I didn't choose the leader of the US, yet I am forced to be ruled by him. I do not give my consent to be governed by this man, so by what right does he govern,me?

Just a little sidepoint:

If you are trying to imply that a state does not have the right to exist because it is based on ethnicity then you'd have to focus on many more countries than Israel.
Take Saudi Arabia for example. Saudi Arabia is far more ethnically homogeneous than Israel is. No Jew would be allowed to participate in its government. Yet, the state which was founded by Zionism manages to have Arabs as part of its democratic processes.
Another interesting point is is that an individual does not have the "right to exist" if, in fact, he does not exist. This is plainly obvious but the fact of the matter is that Israel, does, in fact, exist, like it or not. Saying that it may not have a "right to exist" is a moot point.
This, in my opinion, is the basic problme that manu people have. They just can't accept the reality of the situation.

What or who is the government? We choose our leaders , right? So if the people choose the leaders , it follows that the voice of the government is the voice of the people. and thus logically, the right of the people is represented by the government.
If you as an individual have a right so does the government elected by you !

Yes of course the Israeli people have a right to exist and they have the right to the piece of land in the MiddleEast. Israel is not exclusive only to Jews. Jews, Arabs and Christians alike live in Israel.

I am not sure where you get the idea that Israel is exclusively for Jews. There is no country in the world today that is exclusive to any one sect of individuals.

I'm curious as to how you came up with this information.

Wow... I just read your additional details... you are one messed up dude looking for any reason or excuse to fight the system.

A country's sovereignty gives them the right to exist.

And Israel doesn't just have jews in the country. Their basic premise was to have a Zionist safe-haven.

Since laws and rights are derived from man, asking of Israel has the right to exist is kind of a value judgement.

It is obscene to consider that Israel might have to defend its right to exists. Do the 22 Arab states have to justify their existence?

Jordan, Pakistan and Iraq, for example, were never "states"--they all found the cartographers' pen by being "created and legitimized by external powers."

Israel, on the other hand, existed for centuries.

Israel is the only Jewish state in the whole world. The Arabs have 22 states. The Arabs are not wiling to accept a Jewish state in their midst.

Israel thought that by leaving Gaza entirely in August 2005, that the Arabs would get their act together and develop their economy. Instead, the Arab have seen fit to launch thousands of missiles at Israel's civilian population, intending to kill as many citizens as possible.

Israel, on the other hand, is trying to live in peace. When they do attack, it is with the clear objective of silencing the Arab terrorists. By international law, Israel is totally justified in its quest to protect its citizens. The Arabs are in total violation of international law by unprovoked attacking of innocent civilians in Israel.

The Palestinian Arabs could have had a state already, if they only behaved like civilized human beings. But they have proven time and again that they are not ready to behave, and so the Arabs will have to exist with "only" 22 states.

Before the creation of the State of Israel, who were the Palestinians?

Until 1950, the name of the Jerusalem Post was THE PALESTINE POST; the journal of the Zionist Organization of America was NEW PALESTINE; Bank Leumi was the ANGLO-PALESTINE BANK; the Israel Electric Company was the PALESTINE ELECTRIC COMPANY; there was the PALESTINE FOUNDATION FUND and the PALESTINE PHILHARMONIC. All these were Jewish organizations. In America, Zionist youngsters sang "PALESTINE, MY PALESTINE", "PALESTINE SCOUT SONG" and "PALESTINE SPRING SONG." In general, the terms Palestine and Palestinian referred to the region of Palestine as it was. Thus, "Palestinian Jew" and "Palestinian Arab" are straightforward expressions. "Palestine Post" and "Palestine Philharmonic" refer to these bodies as they existed in a place then known as Palestine. The adoption of a Palestinian identity by the Arabs of Palestine is a recent phenomenon. Until the establishment of the State of Israel, and for another decade or so, the term Palestinian applied exclusively to the Jews.

What a silly exercise in rhetoric. Maybe you can debate "should gravity exist" next. The sooner you drop the mental masturbation and deal with the world, as it is, the better off you will be. Unless of course, you want to teach at an American college or university, in which case you're welcome to live in your own private Idaho.

My dear friend:

ISRAEL IS REAL !!!

Israel was Israel since the beginning, Jesus was a Jew, they are holy people, they are intelligent, smart, they work hard, they transformed the desert in productive land.
Moses, Albert Einstein, among others Jews contributed to our world.
The only right we humans have is to be respected.
Our only duty is to love each other promoting peace and harmony.
Long life to Israel, to the Palestinians, to Jews, to Muslins, to Christians, to all religions in the face of earth.
We need more God in our lifes, we need more love and peace, we need more understanding, we need to forgive and to be forgived.
I hope one day we all give hands to each other and build a better future for our children.
We are all holy before the Creator.
God Bless Us All.
