I got a letter in the mail the other day stating in the first couple of sentence that they were delighted that I have expressed in interest in their University. They go on to state that as I search for the college or university that is right for me,they hope I keep them high on my list. What does this letter mean?I did put their University down when I had my ACT score sent of to colleges.Does this mean I have a chance with this college?

I think they're trying to get you to think that you have a chance with them so that you'll send away for their information packet and eventually apply. When I took my college boards, I got letters like that, too. If you're interested in the school, send away for the info. If not, just disregard the letter. It's not a letter or acceptance or rejection either way.

If you recieve a letter from a college before you have applied then that means they are definately interested in you! If you are truly interested in attending this college you should begin getting your application, letters of recommendation, and transcript together so you can send it off to them ASAP. If you get your application in before the masses (other high school students) you will have more time and energy to put into looking into scholarships. Also the college of your choice may have scholarships only available to students that attend that school so the sooner you get accepted the sooner you can start looking for those scholarships! Good Luck!

This is a form letter that is sent out by many universities when students send those colleges their ACT or SAT scores.

Really, I promise you, it means absolutely nothing. It is called marketing.
