A little while ago, I noticed that my task manager wasn't working. It says it had been disabled by the adminstrator (ME!) We don't use it that often and although it was irritating I didn't think too much about it. Now, my firewall is shut down. When I try to make it work, I get this message

Error in NMI : Application is disabled. This application is not allowed to run on this system. This has been disabled by the Administrator

It was just working the other day! Why is this happening? Do I have some hidden virus that got past my anti-virus? How do I get my firewall and my task manager back?

The linked worked to fix my task manager, but the firewall is still inactive. I have an active anti-virus and recently did a full clean up of my system and neither has detected anything bad on my system.

Hi there! If you're the ONLY administrator and you havent done any recent changes in settings, then its likely an activity of a virus. You can get your system checked thoroughly with the latest antivirus software. But before you do, I'd suggest you follow the link below (its a Microsoft KB article on the same) and change the settings. If you are unable to change it, then get your system checked. But do not worry, it could be fixed,,, Do feel free to IM or msg me if you need further assistance.. Thank you! And hope your system works fine soon!

Hi!

You have definitely been HACKED, and I have no doubts about it! Someone (aka nasty_online_crook) :) hacked into your system and disabled this service...
I'd back up "My Documents" format... bla bla

BTW: the Task Manager has been disabled (and this advanced scripting) in order to disallow you to see what processes are running (such as keyloggers).

I'd try to change all my passwords on all accounts used in the past weeks.
Also, you might send it to a company to determine who did that, to press charges. I'd do that, since it's all about money... your company money...

Mail me, if you want to see who did that...

Best of luck!
