it says virus detected....and asks you to download spyknight or something else and i have to hit the back button to go back to surfing the net

Your PC is definitely infected.. with spyware, and that spyknight is a adware... try Ad Aware 6.

Next time something tells you that you have spyware... close the window and continue whatever you were doing!

First of all install norton anitvirus 2007 onto your computer and set the auto update function on. This will automatically update itself with the latest virus signatures and with protect your computer again all the type of virus / worms / trojans etc, etc and you can forget about anything else.

I think that's not virus.
It is an advertisement!
