They only gave the teams a few months to work together and practice before starting the season. I think it would have been a lot better if there had been a 2nd season after getting in a full training pre-season. It would never top the NFL, but I think Vince gave up waaaay to early. Shoulda stuck it out and saw what might have happened.
They should totally bring it back, football in the off season is always a good thing!!

I'm with bornlie on this one. It was doomed from the start because of the association with McMahon and WWE. People couldn't separate the product from wrestling and Vince. Sure it wasn't the NFL but it wasn't as bad as the media made it out to be. The XFL was at least moderately interesting and tried to be innovative.
One of the good ideas that they created was the field camera that would be hung over the field. I find it funny that ESPN now uses that same technique and when they started it claimed that they created it when the XFL did it a couple years ahead of them. Also I must say that some of the teams had some pretty sweet jerseys. If I recall San Francisco and Los Angeles looked good.

The XFL failed because the quality of play was crap. Some of the innovations were ok (the fumble coin flip thing), but overall it was like watching high school football.
And if you really miss the Cheerleaders that much, i suggest you check out the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders. Those chicks do not like clothing material.

It failed because it wasn't about Football. I think "he hate me" was a great name. The problem was it also made it hard to take the league serious. Come on put anything you want on the back of your jersey. Yeah there were some NFL level players. That didn't make it a legit thing though. If it had been run by NBC without the WWE and Vince Jr. it may have been a real league. It would have likely fizzled out though. After all it would have been second tier to the NFL and hard to build a league with that arguement. It did have some good points though.

It was purely a business decision to stop it. It was losing money hand over fist and since the WWE is a publicly traded company, the investors (or board for that matter) wouldn't put up with the losing venture. He could have possibly made it work if the WWE was privately held, but many people have failed at it. The NFL has a really good thing going and it's tough to muscle in on it's turf.

I don't miss it. The quality of play was crap (high school at best), the so called innovations were stupid, and anything with Vince McMahon involved is lame at best. Good ridance!!!

lol He Hate Me was great.
In the Vince Mcmahon DVD they say it failed because it was stigmatized from the get go and the media didn't give it a shot.

to much of a side show in the game with all the names and girls. I think it took to much away from the game. Talent level was never really there.
