As with socialism / communism / or capitalism, the philosophy is to do the most 'good' with what you have.

Capitalism doesn't really manage anything, - it just freely flows from pursuits of all it's people. The USA doesn't have the most oil, natural resource, land, or whatever. But we use better, cheaper, faster the stuff we do have, more effectively / efficiently than any other country. And a justice system, that works 'better'. None of this is perfect, - just all the other countries have it 'less' so.

With other countries getting kicked in the teeth after WW2, both the winners and the losers, USA came out on top as a dominant player. Certainly don't hold WW2 against the USA.

America is not an old country and doesnt follow a certain king ot family or something. it is a combintation of people from different races; religions belives, and because it is new; the goverment set a good level of standards, benifits to help it's people and to be an ideal country that many poeple want to live in; the goverment gives alot for it's people and worked hard to compete ecnomicly; financially; the connections america have helps a lot in all of these things; of course politics and the american rules for trading and investments have a big role;

NO, it was not that powerful before the World War 2. It was after the World War 2 when America took all the brilliant scientists from all over the world. That is why they are so feared by other countries.

Financially, England was stronger than America. But, the English suffer a terrible loss for funding the world world 2 which then cause the domination by United States.

Militarily, I guess its due to the technology and stuffs.

It started from 1492.
But.............in the 17-18th centures when Europe was fighting bloody wars, America developed steadily without inter-state wars.
Suddenly in the end of 18th century, when England remained the only sea-power, England started to trade with America becuase it was the only save place.
America was not involved with poltics and international diplomacy at all, which saved them from future wars and conflicts and this fact helped them to develop.
Besides, Europe is small, the map changed every year, many states are lost, simply don't exist or are in the territory of other states. While, the distance between USA and Europe is too much, by the way, sea routes were not developed. How Britain could invade USA? not by planes and helicopters, no tanks can reach them. USA was left alone to build their infrastructure.
So you see what I mean?
Hope, I am clear in my thoughts.

They took the power. They went to war to seperate themselves from the monarchy (which us Aussies are still stuck to) economically however, England still reigns supreme. America has a long way before they can match England on that. Population could have something to do with it. America was really one of the first countries of it's kind, breaking away from royal rule to govern themselves, they did set something in motion there.

The US achieved parity with England after WW1.

When WW2 began, it became obvious the US was more than equal as it could bankroll and side with England’s war against Hitler’s Germany. In the post-WW2 period, war-torn Europe became the basket case of the US. By this period, with the fury of the Cold War between USSR and the US, the former tried desperately to equal the latter and became bankrupt in the process by 1990.

It was fait accompli that the US had taken the place of England as a superpower.

After the dash to Berlin by the USSR to catch up with the victorious Americans, the stage for Cold War and great power rivalry had begun.

WW1 sapped Europe's strength and unity in Asia. That saved China from being partitioned, but it left a dangerous vacuum for a fast rising Japan whose victories against China (Treaty of Shimonoseki, 1895) and the defeat and total destruction of the Russian Pacific Fleet in 1904, showed her a coming great naval power.

It was not a surprising event, because Japan copied its navy after the British Navy, as it did with its army after France, then later Prussia.

But the US became a world power in the Spanish-American War of 1898 that begun with Cuba’s struggle for independence in which the US Congress passed resolutions declaring support for Cuba’s independence and demanding Spain withdraw its forces. Commodore G. Dewey defeated the Spanish fleet in the Philippines and Gen. William Shafter destroyed Spain’s Caribbean fleet near Santiago, Cuba.

A defeated Spain signed the Treaty of Paris (Dec. 10, 1898), renouncing all claim to Cuba, and ceded Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines to the US.

This meant the Americans became involved in Asia, now that it had a foothold in the Philippines. This was indeed godsend, as Japan was originally regarded as a station whereby American ships could berth and requisition before continuing to China, their main objective of staking a claim to the potential market of that vast country.

But by some political skulduggery and shrewd horse-trading, the US agreed not to make it hot for Japan in its conquest of Korea if it did not do anything to criticise or undermine the US in the Philippines.

Yet with Japan’s easy victory over the Russian Pacific Fleet in 1904, something had to be done to curb a rising Japan that was unstoppable

By 1920, the signs were that the US was taking over Britain’s role as the superpower.

To curb Japan's rise as a naval power, America proposed the Washington Conference of 1920-1922.

No nations could match America's industrial might and production capacity. Japan capitulated.

That conference resulted in the Five-Power Treaty. It meant not only America now matched Britain in capital ship tonnage: the combined Anglo-American naval armada was no match for any nation, and this ensured Western dominance of the world.

The USSR went bankrupt in a naval race with America. This was further exacerbated by an arms race concomitantly. The whole Russian military posture was a charade, a turkey dance to impress the Americans. As we all know, the turkey ended up with all its plumage flambéed, and dressed up as an appetising roast on America's Thanksgiving Day.
