Make sure your sewage and water plumbing does not go underground through the front yard before you plant a tree in it. If you do then on down the road you will have root problems in your lines, not fun at all.

THere are many yahoo groups about gardening. Join one of them from your area to get ideas and tips on what the best flowers and plants are for where you live.

For a country cottage garden, roses are always an essential. As is an arbor to sit under, a nice bench and a water feature. Ponds can be a big undertaking if you aren't an experienced gardener. Pinks, creams, yellows and blues are nice "cottagy" colors. I always plant a morning glory vine to go up over the arbor or down the fence row.

I like to encourage birds and wildlife into my garden so I plant things that attract them.

A magazine called Better Homes and Gardens has speciality magazines and one of my favorites that they put out is "cottage gardens" It has so many pretty pictures of gardens, with planting tips and ideas.

Good luck with your project.

I would suggest a type of willow tree not the type that seeks water. I forget the exact name it has a great look. Also use the vinyl picket fence they are great and looks wonderful. Place a loveseat or bench in the yard some stones to walk on to create a small space to place the bench on. forget a pond get a birdbath. Agapanthas easy to grow, wild roses, hope this will help..
