My husband while on tour bought me a beautiful white dress made of polyster with intricate embroidery on it. The embroidery was done using red, green, orange and yellow thread. I wore it for a function and it got me alot of appreciation from friends and relatives. But when I washed it after that I found that the embroidery color had begun to come off and it was staining the dress. I found that the color could be washed off from the garment but it left my dress in a pale colour instead of white. And the emboidery was again losing colour. Can any one please give me suggestions on what I should do to save my dress as well as the embroidery on it.

There's a product called Carbona color remover in the laundry aisle of supermarkets that you can try. The embroidery color will still be pale, but you might be able to get the dress white again.

Did you wash the dress in warm or cold water? I recommend hand washing it in cold water if you don't want to dry clean it.

First of all is you should not have washed the dress, Intricate embroidery on the dress always poses the danger of stainning the material if the origin of the embroidery whether fast colour or temp is not known. YOu should have dry cleaned it.

Try asking your dry cleaners if they can save the dress. If your embroidery is in lace etc and can be removed try asking a dressmaker to do so, and then wash the dress.

dont worry and give it 4 dry cleaning. the stains will almost cme out leaving the dress white. but the only problem is that the embroidery color will turn light. but still the dress will be worth wearing. i m sure it will work coz even i had faced the same situation and had asked the laundry man a sugession and he had sugested this. best of luck.

Normally the dress should have come with washing instructions. You should have given the dress for Dry-Cleaning; maybe you should still take it to a good laundry and ask they advice. Try Ala Fabric Whitener
