I'm not sure I agree with the person above's claim that the indigo is smaller than the ikon. As a matter of fact the ikon is the old belgian ford fiesta brought to India after adding a boot. Even the engine technology in the 1.3Lit is an old pushrod type.

In contrast the Indigo is bigger than even the esteem in all respects, and is better than the ikon for everything but handling, power and fit-finish, where Ford scores better. I would recommend the Indigo turbo diesel if you do more than 40km/ day.

Ford no longer makes the old 1.8Diesel Ikon. it was very underpowered anyway

I think that you should definitely go in for the Ford's Ikon. It comes with bigger space inside, a more attractive look outside, great offers (its FORD!), excellent reliability, and great customer care services!
Whereas the indigo is costing too much for what it is actually worth. There have been many complaints about its reliability, looks, interior quality and customer care services.
Also, there so many of them on Indian roads, you will not be noticed at all. And if you think about it, the Indigo is the SAME as the Indica, but with a bigger boot. So if you buy a Indigo, you are actually buying a Indica. It is just a marketing gimmic from Tata to extend their range!

p.s: ikons also come with many extras which can liven things up in your cabin!
