I dont want this to sound racist (it probably will, but not purposely), but personally, it seems to me like "black people" think America owes them for what their ancesters went through. I was watching Judge Hachett and she said black people should stop all the crime acts and things because she thinks their ancesters would look down on it and I actually agree with her. Obviously it isn't just black people commiting crime in our country but as someone who moved from New England to South Carolina... I've never been around this many colored people and seen so many shootings, robberies, welfare frauds, gang activity etc. I also don't think people should look up to ebonics and TRY to talk like that. It shows poor education and our country is better than that. I was in the OB office yesterday and a black lady asked me "How many weeks you is??" Sorry, but that sounded SO AWFUL! Black people can read, write and go to school now so why do they keep up with this awful language? Are they proud?

Again, this question sounds racist and rude... but it isn't intended to sound that way. I just want to understand it better. You don't see a lot of black people trying to "act white", however there are lots of white people who try to "act black". I dont get it... it's like it is wrong to "act white". I've seen black people get made fun of by other black people for trying to "act white". I know not ALL black people are like this and I personally am not racist towards them, I just don't understand whats going on!

This question goes beyond just african-americans, the only reason why I am asking about them specifically is because since I moved down here, they make up a HUGE amount of the population and I always get treated like scum. It seems they all group together and hate white people...thats why I am trying to understand this more. I came down here against racism, I still am, but the more ignorance and racism I see coming my way, the more I understand why it is being dished back out... either way, I think everyone needs to be more educated in life (blacks, whites, hispanics, etc.) and the racism should stop (but never will!). I just always see how black people say "my ancesters made this country!"

I agree with the "white history month" comment... if there were to actually be White History Month, or a WET (White Entertainment Television), or even WHITE hair magazines... you know how much crap we'd get from black people?!

Thank you for having the courage to voice such politically incorrect thoughts. I agree with Bill Cosby, who angered the African American community this year when he stated at some sort of educational conference that black people need to stop talking like idiots and naming their children crazy, made up names. We live in a pretty lilly white suburb, but my step-daughter's boyfriend is a really nice guy who happens to be black. He doesn't talk like he's from the ghetto and neither do his parents. They don't talk that way because they're not from the ghetto. He knows people who do and says he can understand it in a way. His family attends a Black Methodist church and occasionally someone will ask him, "Why you talk like dat?" He says he shrugs his shoulders and tells the person he doesn't know. He's uncomfortable in both worlds, but is made to feel more uncomfortable in the black world. Why do they do this to each other? He doesn't know and neither do I. If it's a matter of keeping your heritage alive, there's got to be better things to keep alive than talking like an uneducated fool. It's about as stupid as a third generation Polish-American refusing to speak English. The first generation might refuse, the second generation might resist, then learn both languages, but by the third generation that's all done. If I decided to move to France, I would expect to have to learn the language in order to succeed.

We have a history in this country of being prejudice toward minorities and immigrants. And African Americans point to the fact that we eventually accept the white looking minorities, but we don't accept them because of their color. Well, I'm sorry, but that's not it. We have trouble accepting them because so many continue to hold onto the stupid things - like uneducated language. I have little respect for that, just as my ex-husband and his siblings have little respect for their father, who immigrated to this country but refused to learn English. Their mother did learn English, has their utmost respect, and has always made more money than the father for that reason.

Before you judge me, read this entirely.

No. They don't think America owes
them anything, just the white man.
They don't understand that neither
you or I enslaved them. Nor do they
know that our ancestors did or didn't.
They don't even know if their own
relatives were enslaved. However, it
is much easier to blame others for
your problems.
As for the culture they have invented
for themselves, it is meant to separate
them from the object of their hate, white
man. It is a form of rebellion. That is why
children and some adults are drawn into
that culture. Because it says, "look at me
I'm different and disgusted with the way
I'm treated."
When it comes to crime, NO, it isn't just
the black man who commits crimes but
the media loves to fuel the fire of fear by
using sensationalism. Crimes are committed
by people who either feel they have nothing
to lose or nothing to fear. The first applies to
blacks, the second applies to rich white men.
Language again is a form of separatism, thus
driving another wedge between people.
Blacks who look down on their own for trying
to "be white" are very angry individuals who
feel that they have been left out of the American
dream.
JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW.
I am a white man married to a black woman.
Not African American. She will tell you she was
born in this country therefore she is an American.
She will also tell, that unless you were born in
another country you don't have a right to say
you're African American, Mexican American, etc...
Her favorite saying is, "The only color that matters
in this country is green, if you don't have it you
don't matter, no matter your color."
My favorite saying is,
"Judge a person based on their actions not by their color."

Give me thumbs down if you will but we all
no it's all true.

I'm black and African too, and I understand what you are saying. You'll be surprised to see that Africans who immigrate to the USA and try to make an honest and decent living get mistreated by some African Americans sometimes, for 'siding' with the white people. It's like we are supposed to take sides but that is rubbish! Not all black people are racist but alot of them feel that 'white' America has never helped them in getting on their feet since slavery was abolished. I think that is where the hate stems from. They had to fight/bear with racism plus get on their feet, bu not everyone wins that fight so they feel that their problems were created by white people. It's a sad situation, but the black people need to be strong and persevere in order to succeed. At least there is opporunity in America. In Africa, even if you are honest and hardworking, there really isn't any guarantee for a comfortable way of life. All the best, but don't use this as an excuse to 'turn racist'. We are not all like that.

Of course yes.The best thing to be robbed from human is freedom and that is what we are still going through. But i think it is senseless to base all our actions on it and keep on dreaming.Who told you black people can't read? i took an English class just this fall semester and there were six whites, two blacks (i and another black girl),a Turkish and some Hispanics and at the end of the semester.Only two people had A in the course (i and the Turkish).Don't be deceived that all whites are brilliant because that isn't true.Lots of black are ignorant of getting good education,i agree but who made them so.It is partly the society, there are lots of bright blacks who couldn't get admission to Universities because of their race and so they become problem to the society.I hope you've heard of this popular quote that "Nobody is born to be a criminal but the society makes him so."Give people equal opportunities and then you can condemn their failure.Whites are attracted to black slangs,a good example is "wanna, gonna and gotta".whites wouldn't accept these slangs some time ago but now,you do speak them like your own.I believe that if a black commits crime,he's made to face charges and the same must be applied to other races. But it seems, the ordinary Latino or black guy is considered a suspect before he commits a crime.I don't blame people for what should happen or happened to me because i see education as a means to enlighten humans but you lack the sense of making a good judgement.I think it is because you remain in your shoes and judge people, why don't try other people's shoes and see if you can still make that same judgement. The masters of the English language are not certainly the Americans but the British. You called America as your country and blacks commiting crimes, hello,Red Indians are the true owners of this land.Wake up.

Black Americans are an oppressed race, just as some other races are. Don't call them colored people, because I can guarantee you that you are colored too unless you are an Albino (very rare).

Many, many people around the globe are racists. EVERYONE is PREJUDICE in some way or another about something in life. It doesn't have to be a race thing. (Prejudice and Racists are two different things). Black Americans typically don't make as much money as other people do, not because they aren't smart, but because of their skin color. They are not offered a quality lifestyle like others who are more fortunate. They don't inherit or amass a fortune from their forefathers. They are just trying to survive like the rest of us.

Who cares what color your skin is, it's what's on the inside that counts. Have you ever seen a Black President in this country? They commit crimes just like other people that are Hispanic, Asian, White, etc. You don't have to have black skin to commit a crime. People that commit crimes are angry and frustrated with our system. I don't blame them. Our government in America is broken, our systems are broken, but it's the only thing we have. If you want to change it....be my guest. Someone needs to.

Furthermore, there are many black people trying to be white. Michael Jackson is a prime example of this. We try to be like people we admire. Start looking on the inside to see what someone is really made of, not the outside. Just think of it like a present. You could wrap something valuable in ugly newspaper or a paper bag, the paper you will just throw away anyway. It's what's inside of the wrapper that you keep.

Hope this helps your thinking. God bless.

some do some don't( watch lean on me) Morgan freeman says if you fail don't blame the white man or other races blame yourselves.and he is exactly right. I'm not rude or racists as well. half our family is mixed. but i will tell you this some white folks feel they are better than the blacks along with other cultures as well. we all need to be ourselves and quit blaming other races.as there was white slavery before black. its a sad situation for all who were involved back then. however, the blacks did go threw alot. this is no longer an excuse. when it comes right down to it i have seen that the wht@blks will be the two groups that will side together. if need be. we will never change every ones views so that's reality.as far as shootings, crime etc it is just not the blacks!!!! poor education? some of the blacks or i will reword most of the blacks are highly educated. don't let yourself be fooled.

Yowie. Are you ever the brave one! I've seen so many immigrants come from other countries without a dime to their name and not speaking any English, yet they are able to better themselves, become gainfully employed, get educated, learn proper English, raise families, own real estate, all without resorting to crime.

You are right. Some African Americans think that America owes them for the wrongs inflicted upon their ancestors. The reality is that was over 200 years ago. They need to take advantage of what this country has to offer, what others have discovered...that the United States is the land of opportunity and only through honest hard work and perseverance does one improve one's standard of living and improve their future generations chances of success. Stay engaged in school, get good grades, get good jobs. There are really no short cuts.

You must be young in age if you think that only blacks use bad grammar and are poorly educated. Newsflash sweetheart, sometimes we see only what we want to see, so no matter how many others are commiting those same criminal acts, it is easier for you to accept that the majority of the culprits are african american. Judge Hachett does not speak for all black americans but she is a strong supporter of getting at risk youth back on track and I applaud her for that. In case you have not noticed, it's not just blacks that are on her show.

In some cases yes, and so do whites, greens and Mr. Blue jeans as well. But no one owes anyone here, we just need to pull our weight that is all. Some things have gone too far that is for sure, like the Hispanic thing too. Not to offend anyone but that is wrong too. No one should be forced to speak anything but American English, After all it was founded by Great Britain, not Spain, Spain conquested, robbed the place and destructively continued to rob and kill in Mexico as well. So as far as their heritage I would not say that the American natives appreciated that what so ever, and I am a Native. Many wars were fought here and many lives were taken and land, there is no one giving us anything and guess what that is life. The strong survive. And you are not wrong for speaking your mind. We are all Americans and the racism and the blame has got to stop. We just have to get along here or lose the place to the enemy. And boy we are surrounded by haters.

Well, not all Black people feel this way, but many do...especially the most outspoken Black people...which makes it hard to ignore them when they complain...which makes many people of other races (not just Whites) a little angry, since it seems like most other races don't rely on lame excuses to get by.
