Latex allergy can show up in many different ways. Some people only have dry, red itchy skin after contact. Some people get bumps and blisters. People with BAD allergic reactions to latex have the full histamine response of flu-like symptoms including runny nose and eyes, swollen tongue and/or airway (throat), burning eyes and raised blood pressure. Unfortunately, even if you are just having the skin problems, with long term exposure, it can develop into the histamine reaction later on. I am a nursing student, and they warn us about this because of the gloves we have to wear all the time. Just be watchful. Anaphalaxis (the whole swollen airway and tongue thing) can sneak up on you and be VERY BAD!!!!! It can even threaten your life!!!

I had the same problem recently and I had extreme itching. I went out and bought a different kind of condom and yep, it was it. It was the latex. From then on I had no more problems.

The reddness and itching will usually accompany any latex allergy. Stop using them if it does.

Put one on. Wait a while then take it off.
