Question: Do you know of a decent acoustic guitar i could purchase from a store- like at guitar center- that is in the $100-$150 range?

Other info: My boyfriends prized acoustic guitar was 'misplaced' when he moved out here last June and since he has been 'stuck' with just his bass. So i was thinking of getting him a new acoustic guitar for christmas- only we're expecting our second child soon so money is super tight and at the most I can only afford 150 dollars.... but I know zero about them and don't want to get a piece of crap- so any advice? suggestions?

** he's been playing for over 15 years... so he's not even near 'a beginner'

Ibanez and Yamaha both make great quality instruments. I'm a musician and have been for almost 35 years. When it comes to acoustic (hollow wooden) guitars, I prefer Yamaha acoustics, and I have two 6-strings and one 12-string made by them. I also have two 6-strings made by Ibanez.

The main thing to ask yourself is what kind of music does he play on it? Will he be playing classical? Then buy him one with nylon strings. The difference between the classical guitars and others is that the strings are slightly further apart, and those nylon strings will not allow "bending" of the notes when he plays it.

However, If he plays country, rock, or other styles, then you'll probably want to get him one pictured in the GuitarCenter.com link I've attached below.

Boy, I wish I had a girlfriend like you that would buy ME a guitar for Christmas! He's one lucky dude...

Merry Christmas!

An advanced guitar player would tell you that a music instrument is like a pair of shoes. You could get a nice Francisican Guitar with nylon strings and close string gap from the frets alright, but with the 150, he might find an upgrade model more to his hand in say a pawn shop or something.

im a intermediate guitar participant and that i uncover guitar hero video games extra elaborate than gambling the truly guitar. for one, you've six strings on a guitar, in which as the sport has five buttons. the sport honestly has you relocating your finger additional whilst you play unmarried notes than honestly gambling truly guitar. in which a be aware on a truly guitar could have you ever simply fretting a curb or higer string. the sport makes you be concerned a button that additional. i love gambling chords at the sport. in that, it does think like your honestly gambling chords. a different factor is that you simply dont relatively need to appear at a reveal whilst gambling a truly guitar. so that you do want extra hand eye cordination to play the sport. the songs within the sport are hooked up lovely well. its no longer simply random button presses, the sport does have repeatable styles. its defintely a laugh. its simply less difficult to play truly guitar.

I've played guitar for 30 years. I just bought a Carlo Robelli for $119.00 at Sam Ash. It plays and sounds fine. A guitar that is setup properly will play and sound pretty good. The one I bought also as a pickup so he can plug into an Amplifier. I have no guitar that I've payed more than $400.00 for. An they all play just as good, sound as good, as a guitar costing thousands.

I also saw a Carlo Robelli for $149.00 but didn't play it. Make sure they get you one out of the back and not one that's been hanging by it's neck on the wall.

I don't want to disappoint you as you seem to be in a festive spirit, BUT, it will be difficult to find a new guitar for $150 that will be appropriate for someone who has played 15 yrs..You might look on the web for good used ones, or call local shops for same. You should find someone who knows about guitars to help you get the best you can find.

Yamaha CGs104 lists for $250 but you can get one for $150 if you live by a Guitar Center outlet or someone that will match prices. I have had a CG model Yamaha for 15 years and still play on it...

Try a washburn D-100 I like it good jamming guitar It is no martin or gibson but it sounds nice and warm. Musiciansfriend.com or guitar center should have them. You might want to buy new strings with it the strings that come on them sound not bad but not great thats for sure.
