I once was penalized for "holding my own" during a debate. I was trying to emphasize a point but the moderators said it was crude and in poor taste. The loss of those points actually cost me the debate. My advice? Don't hold your own during a debate! But, even more... Don't hold anybody else's! That'll REALLY cost ya!

Yes, I've been practicing for years at various meetings on various topics. One needs facts, tact, and the ability to spot logical flaws - and also the ability to gratiously concede a point if necessary. The highest purpose of debating is to learn something, after all.

I love to debate. I can usually make the other person feel stupid and or apologize even though you're not supposed to apologize in a debate. so yeah I can.
