I have noticed more than young people being lazy and rude. As for it killing the economy, I have my doubts. Most of the people who are lazy and rude now, will learn that they must work to maintain a job and will be forced into better habits. As for there manager, if they haven't noticed that there employee is lazy and rude it is because they are lazy and don't pay attention to the store.

If seniors do not teach properly how to work then naturally the young people who do not know what to work and how to work will be lazy and out of frustration will be rude also. The best thing would be to talk sweetly with these young people and teach them as if they are in school and see that they perform the task that they have been assigned and then praise them for the good job they have done. Also be personal to them and ask them questions about how they spend their time after office hours and also enquire about their family etc etc. This will make them adore you and your orders will be carried out promptly. Instead if you complain about them then they would revolt and make you a bad manager. All the best.

Coming from a young person who works 70+hrs a week. Think about maybe they're not lazy but tired from being up all night with they're child, or studying for an exam. Its not just young people. Dont judge them, you have no clue what could be going on with them.

Yes, I have; but, I attribute the values and attitudes of young people to their parents.
As a certified school teacher, within my state, I come in contact with hundreds of students who I consider "lazy" in completing assignments and "rude" in their behavior towards other students and teachers.
Parents defy and challenge the U.S. public school systems when their child is held accountable for daily attendance, assignments, homework, and behavior. Parents view "accountability" as an assault on their parenting skills, which they can easily excuse because "both parents have to work to support the family", "his/her real father is a "bad" influence, doesn't pay his/her child support, is an alcoholic, drug addict, or just a "no good s.o.b.!
When children, young people, or even "old" people, are reinforced with negativity, a nation develops an attitude of "who cares", "what difference does it make", I don't have to do anything I don't want to do", "screw you", I'll do or say what I want".
I still keep teaching and trying to develop "good" study habits, pride in learning, and a respect for others.

Yeah, I guess the low prospect of a better future and seeing the older generation taking the resources and money from the future really hurts their moral. Maybe if the baby boomer fix the Social security, so it won't bankrupt the future, and stop the outsourcing might bring back the spirit that made America great.

I worked at a Drycleaners and I went to work high most of the time.
Damn, those were good times. I guess I am/was contributing to the problem. But I bet you all did stupid sh*t at your jobs when you were young, you shameless hypocrites.
And come on. If you don't like what we do, get us fired and our bosses will get an illegal Mexican to do it. You can't win :-).

I have been surprised when kids with tattoos and piercings have actually turned out to be terrific workers. I do general contracting, and the young kids I have hired have proved to be attentive, hard-working and responsible. They show up on time, do the work, and earn their money. A lot of guys MY age (mid 50's) are not as good.

I'm at work right now answering your question. So yes I'm lazy at times, but not all the time and I can be rude if someone is rude first.

Have you noticed the way teenagers are currently being treated by the rest of society? If you expect nothing of someone, give them no respect, and treat them like slaves for 12 years of public school, then it's likely they'll hold a bit of resentment.

have you ever noticed older people who work in department stores and car dealerships looking at young people as if they are wasting their time cuz god forbid a young person went to college and got a good education and happens to make more money than them could exist. That's descrimination, talk to their manager and suggest they be fired.
