I am 32, I have 150k assets. I plan to retire at age 55 with 2 million assets.

As I say this, I know it is not going to happen. It is a moving target. As a kid, you were happy getting $5 pocket money. As a college student, you were happy earning $5 an hour at that grocery store evening job. After college, in your first job, you were happy with $50,000 a year salary. Now as a husband and father, you are not happy with $150k assents. So, how can you be happy with 2 million 23 years down the line.

As a kid you were happy getting a new tricycle or a bicycle. As a college student you were happy getting that 10 years old ford from your dad. At your first job, you were happy buying 3 years old Honda accord. Today you are not happy with a new car and an SUV in your garage. How will you be happy with that porche 23 years down the line?

It’s a moving target. No money is enough to satisfy human greed. You can retire with 1 thousand assets or you can not retire with 1 billion. It is all relative.
