We know the Jerry Springer show was pretty much staged and fake,so i was wondering if the Ricki Lake show was staged too?(even though i know their were less fights on Ricki)

Not officially, but I find it hard to believe that actual human beings would go on a programme like that thinking it would help them!!

I think i prefer Ricki lake over Jerry because there is only so much fighting you can do. I went on chat show in the UK Trisha and I got paid £400 for it and they are not meant to pay the guest that come on the show.

It's not stage but what they do is hype you up and keep talking about it so that when you get on the stage you really mad and you just wanna vent or you anger it's very clever

Jerry Springer coaches their guest to be a certain way...they pretty much amp thier guest to fight to make the show interesting. But Ricki did have fights also but change when the media had a beef about talk shows and fights.

I'm not sure but certainly Ricki knows more than she lets on. I saw a show recently where she was catching up with guests and said 'I wonder where they are now ...' the doorbell rang and the people appeared but when she chatted with them she obviously knew all about them despite her sobbing at their fantastic news.

The show seems to cover some bizarre subjects and have some very surprising guests, some of which I take with a pinch of salt. It ended in 2004 but lives on on ITV2!

There's an interesting article on the genre on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabloid_talk_show

Everything on those talk shows are not real. They do things to make you watch them. Even though Jerry Springer was good on Dancing with the Stars, I actually admired him for his effort.
