yes it is stress

Stress is the second most common cause of late or missed periods in teenagers. It may be emotional stress (for example, breakup with a boyfriend or final exams) or depression. Or it may be physical stress to the body, such as a severe illness, a sexually transmitted infection, rapid weight loss or gain, or strenuous exercise. Dieting or binging and purging may interrupt menstrual cycles. Changes in your usual routine (for example, going on vacation) may also cause your period to be late or missed.

First and foremost, hormones influence menstruation. If they are not in balance, the cycle will similarly be affected. If a woman's periods are very irregular, she can ask her doctor to measure the hormones in her blood to find out if her hormones are out of balance. This will give a rough indication as to whether there is a serious hormonal problem. However, since what is 'normal' varies greatly with regard to women's hormones, blood tests are not a particularly good measure of what can be considered much more subtle imbalances in a woman's cycle.

Weight also influences hormonal balance and menstruation. If a woman is underweight, her hormones will stop working properly and her periods might stop altogether. Recent research has also shown that obesity can throw hormones out of balance and make it harder for women to conceive. Stress also affects the hormones. Many women find that if they are worried about something, it can influence menstruation. In some cases, a woman's period might actually stop if she is very worried about whether she is pregnant.

Your doctor sounds truly messed up, but I don't have all the information. How long have you been on the birth control? You're not going to have any periods when you're pregnant so why is she worried about that? What kind of birth control are you on? Definitely double-check with another doctor. It never hurts to have a second opinion. Good luck.

Yes stress can stop your period, but not usually for that long of a time. There are some women who cannot menstrate on their own, hence the birth control. Try talking to your dr. about a low dose bc pill. You will still get your period, but your chances of conceiving on the pill are increased. (but with any pill is still pretty small). Does you Dr. have time frame in mind for you to be off the pill? Sometimes they try to keep you on it for a set amt of time to see if that will regulate your menstration.
Also, talk to her about the patch. That is great for regulating periods. You wear it for3 weeks out of the month, get your period the next week and you chances of concieving when taken off if it are immediate as opposed to the pill where it can take up to a yr.

A lot of things can make you not have a period. Stress, eating dosorders like anorexia or bulemia, too much exercise, sudden weight loss not associated with eating disorders. and hormone imbalances are just a few. You should definately see a new doc. Especailly if this dude is telling you to take birth control even though they know you are trying to have a baby!!!

Yes stress can stop your period. I lived with my cousin for around 5 months last year. She really stressed me out, always having a go at me. I didn't get my period for the whole time I was living with her. If your stressed, you could get help.

wow that's tricky. if your doctor is not listening to you then i would go see another doctor. Perhaps a fertility specialist. Me personally i would try taking the pill every other day and put more space between but if you get preg you have to stop them right away. I would go see a new doctor. that's my best advice. I would not pay someone who doesnt hear my concerns
