had no video card installed and since then only a black screen comes up on boot up, Pressing f8 does no good. Tech support is no help. I need to do some scan in safe mode. Any ideas?

Download superantispyware.Once installed,there is a option called Bootsafe.Click on it and it will boot into safe mode for you.

getting into a safe mode depends on which windows is installed on your computer. F8 definitely works only if you have win95, and on other versions you need to run msconfig. here's detailed instructions how you do that:

on my pc it is F5 that gets me to safe mode options

first check your right function keys..i.e. whts is key of for taking safe mode...and its not working...then check your bios setup..and if its not working yet...then you will have to format your drive....
