How many times can a person go trough the process of applying for jobs and getting rejected?

I have now reached the point of physicaly being unable to write (repeat) my information on a application forms - without throwing up in the toilet- and completely giving up - is this natural?

Is a a human being supposed to spend their lives doing this?
Is this the point where I give up.
(4000 - 6000 + job rejections over 16 years).

Maybe you should lower your employment standards and expectations. I mean after being rejected 6000 times, you should be seeing a pattern.

I understand what you are saying, I applied for over 150 jobs on the internet, you know, no contact info etc. When I found out about jobs from someone and got contact info, so many times, people told me they had internet problems and did not receive my applications or emails. I don't know if they were lying or not.

You must have worked some in the 16 years? Why so many applications. What is your job history? How many actual face-to-face interviews have you had out of the 4000 applications?

I have read some of your earlier questions, first off you are young, don't give up. I have got over 25 years employment in software development and teaching. I am now looking in a different field. I have filled out about 150 applications in the past year, got 1 face-to-face. I was told by employment counselors I need certifications. I worked long enough in a language to get fairly good, but an average work week was 50+ hours, I am also a single Mom, I did not realize how important certifications had become. the problem is now, I can't afford the software to continue learning and working in it so that I can afford to take the classes or the exams.

If you know Access really well, get a certification.

BTW I have a Master's degree in Comp science, this not a field where you can sit back.

Maybe you should broaden your job search , ive worked for 42 different companies and done 23 completely different jobs, from window cleaning to assistant hotel manager, at the moment im a security guard , not a fantastic job by any stretch of the imagination but a job none the less. here is my job list :
trainee engineer
trainee sheet metal worker
pop man
market assistant
kitchen porter
grill chef
cellar man
croupier
petrol pump atttendant
labourer
brickies mate
night porter
waiter
assistant restaurant manager
bar man
window cleaner
dessert chef
prep chef
security guard
assistant hotel manager
painter and decorator

I think thats it but im sure ive forgot some. Anyway so there try anything and dont give up. Dont worry about doing what you would consider a lowly job a friend of mine had a job as a kitchen porter about 8 years ago and now he is the md of a large property company, drives around in a nice little porsche boxter (lucky b@stard). but you get my drift. good luck

HI i also live in an area where itS VERY VERY hard to find work so i can understand how demoralising it gets .could the problem be lack of work experience .i feel that your really depressed so maybe it would be a good idea to pay a visit to your doctor and tell him how your feeling .no one should have to get to the point of being physically ill' It could be that without you realising your depression could be showing in what you put on the applications and putting prospective employers off . if i were you i would give the job search a break and get myself sorted out .you can allways try again when your in a more positive frame of mind don`t be scared of antidepressants they don`t make you feel drugged or anything like that .I hope you don`t think i`m trying to patronise you ,honestly i`m not ,i just know the impact being depressed has on your life and a very depressed person doesn`t even realise they have a problem .its others who are more likely to see it .take care and i wish you the best : )

This is a natural response of stress and anxiety.
Why are you being rejected? This is the time you look over why you are being rejected. Are you qualified for the jobs you are going for? Our you over qualified?
Those that need work will work any job. Manual labor if need be. Heck at one point and time I had a little girl coming to me for work, never worked a job in her life. I did not need someone who had no experience. I had talked to a farmer i new who was paying more then I was, cash money to work manual labor. This girl told me she would never work that kind of job with those people.
Because of her bigotry and feeling she was to good to work that job she had no job. I am sure she went to the welfare office. I ran into her again and this is what she said she was on....

Some people need to start at the bottom and work themselves up. Those who feel they can start at the top and work themselves up even further then this might be in for a let down.

You really need to look at what jobs you are qualified for, what the job market looks like in your area, and why you are being rejected. A move to another area might be in order...
Good luck, there are many college graduates trying to get on at the mill my Mr. works at. Never worked that kind of job in there life's but need a job. Some of those people are being turned away for this is the slow season....

I would not give up, but address the real problem. No one is rejected that many times over that many years without something untoward going on. You make no mention of this.

PS Sorry, I have no knowledge of Europe, so " unemployment black spots " are outside my purview. Good fortune.

i think you should see a therapist/ psychologist about this. can you get one for free? i would suggest trying to get a not-so-good job in the company or whever you want to work, then working your way up.

HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF DO NOT GIVE UP
