While I'm surprised your doctor gave you the OK for this, you should be OK. You could be giving yourself anxiety by worrying so much though, which would explain your pounding heart and chest pains. Try to calm down and do some deep breathing. If your still experiencing pains and still worried, call your local poison control center. They're all doctors and nurses and could give you good advice.
Hope all is well : )

There is probably nothing wrong. Perhaps your mind set when you took the Sudafed was anxious and that anxiety is currently causing a panic attack. Breathe. Realize that neither you or your baby is in any danger. Try to listen to relaxing music, talk to your tummy, put on some soothing lotion. I have taken pills that have caused the exact same effects but occured mainly because I was afraid of taking them. You're really alright. If this doesn't stop by the morning, go to your doctor. If you feel you cannot breathe, best to go to the ER. Again, just try to breathe. The greatest likelihood is that you are panicked or the Sudafed has raised your adrenaline levels a bit. It's totally common. I hope you're feeling better already.

I think it is just a side effect that you are not used to because I also rarely take nasal decongestants as well and I get the same reaction when I'm not pregnant too. You may want to call your doctor anyway, just to be on the safe side and make sure your BP is okay! Go0d Luck! :o)

I hate Sudafed, I had these same side effects and I was not pregnant. If you go on-line and search"Sudafed sde effects" You'll realize that it is really not good for anyone to take. If I were you I would call an advice nurse hotline and just tell what you're feeling and she'll be able to medically advise you . I wouldn't take anymore though, airborne works really good and it's natural

I have just met someone a few days ago that said her teenage daughter is pregnant and that doctors are now saying it is not wise to take ANY medications during pregnancy.
If the Sudafed is having this type of affect on you, imagine what it is doing to your little baby. Please call the doctor (or who ever is on call for your normal doctor) and tell him/her the symptons you are having.
It is always best to be safe than sorry.

I had those problems during the first few months of my pregnancy's. I wasn't taking Sudafed but the doctor said something that the heart works harder to pump blood during pregnancy, and that is completely normal to have the hard abnormal thudding in the chest.

it is not because you are pregnant, it is because it is sudafed, that is normal. It is OK to take in pregnancy, but causes these types of side effects. If it doesnt wear off soon you can go to the hospital and get checked

yes that has happened to me...don't ever take them again and call your doctor or hospital and let them know what is going on. you don't need to take something like that when your pregnant anyway....it will wear off after a while...but it is scary. I'm surprised your doctor told you to take that and your pregnant. Also keep away from benadryl that will do the same thing to you too.

Maybe you're allergic to it.
At any rate, if these symptoms persist through the night or get worse, you should go to your doctor or the emergecy room.
Good luck.
