If you take the last the 9 yrs of movie history, Marvel is far ahead than DC in the number of movies produced as well as gross profits. Hollywood is too enamored with DC comics Superman and Batman.

In my opinion, Marvel characters lend themselves better to film and DC is more suited for animation. The reason I make this statement is based on a generalization that most Marvel characters spend as much time out of costume in the real world as they do in latex/cape/mask. Marvel has long endeavored to portray a realistic, believable Universe in which the relationships between people, be they super-powered or otherwise, are the focus. Conflict includes but is in no way limited to costumed battles above the city sky-scape. In fact, the line between hero in villain is often clouded, which in my opinion is also far more believable.
I liken the DC Universe to the old Western movies, where everyone wore either a black or white hat. The line between good and evil is clearly drawn, and there seems to be no compromise. Batman may test this argument, but while his methods may be unconventional, he too follows a strict moral code, and sees his foes as villains who need to be removed from society, even though they are often insane, and worthy of at least some compassion or pity. To continue this analogy, Marvel is more like the Spaghetti Westerns, where Clint Eastwood kicks *** and takes names, even though in three of the film he has no name himself. There is a rawness to the Marvel heroes like Punisher, Wolverine, Hulk, even Daredevil and Spiderman. Who is good and who is bad/evil is often not even at issue. Rather, as in real life the focal point is who is right or justified in their actions. Rather than being a discourse on morality, the Marvel comics often play out like a political drama, with fan debate often ensuing after some major event or conflict. If DC leaves the reader feeling that all is finally right with the world and the sun sets with Superman looking over us all as both protector and moral compass, Marvel leaves us wondering what just happened, and why, and perhaps most importantly, how does it make us feel.

Personally, I would prefer to see more DC characters on the big screen. Yes, there may have been more Marvel movies, but that is only because Warner Bros. doesn't seem to want to make movies of any of the other DC charaters, beyond Superman and Batman (Warner owns DC, for those of you that don't know already). At least the last two DC movies were pretty good. The Spider-Man movies are the best Marvel. X3 was a letdown, after the X2 being ok, with X1 being good. Daredevil and Elektra were terrible. The Hulk was average, at best. The FF was decent, other than Doctor Doom being totally nothing like he is in the comics (in the movie, nothing more than a Lex Luthor wannabe). The Blade movies were ok, but not great. Ghost Rider? Come on! There are so many other characters that deserve to be done from Marvel. I don't think they will be all that great, but they should be done (like Thor and Iron Man).

Marvel. The reason I rarely collected and read DC comics when I was growing up was because the characters were too stiff and they have perfect, or no, private lives with life's problem. Marvel has thrived on characters with a secret identity with stories that read like a Greek tragedy or a soap opera. They had problems. Heck, Clark Kent is just around long enough to hone in on Supes next opponent. I don't read anymore. So, I don't know if they've made DC characters more human. Certainly, the successful DC movies made the secret identities of the hero much more important than comics of the past. Still, After Superman and Batman, who really stands out enough to support themselves in a movie? They have to popular, charismatic and slightly believable.

They should do a Legion of Superheroes movie. That would be cool. I like both DC and Marvel but I want to see more of the DC comics come to life. Theres still Wondor Woman and a bunch of other really cool titles. What about the Justice League? Teen Titans, The outsiders, Infinity, Inc. etc. there's more to DC than just Batman or Superman. HOw about a good Supergirl movie?(the other one sucked)

DC focus on grand adventures and great external conflicts. Everything at Marvel is internal conflicts. Bruce Banner wrestles in his mind about being the Hulk, The X-Men wrestle with the fact that they are beyond human, Spiderman wrestle with the dang "with great power comes great responsibility" crap over ad over again. Every Spiderman story is almost the same, Spidey get in a fight with the villain, something happens, he remembers the great power speech, goes off and beats the bad guy. Spidey never really cut loose and just kicks a bad guy butt, go home and drink a beer and relax. Superman, kicks the bad guys butt, go home, get busy with Lois, get a hot meal out of it, and go and kick another bad guy butt. Still as far as movie goes, I want to be entertain. I really don't want characters that reflect me, I want to escape my reality and go into another reality for about an hour and thirty mins. The DC movies have been so-so lately. The Marvel movies have been getting better. But I would like to see an really good action film with just great characters with not all that personal angst thrown in. Looking forward to the Ghost Rider movie.

So far, I only like the spiderman movie. Beside good fighting scene, the actors and actress are giving a good show. The next better one will be Batman Begins.

The rest of the movies made too focus on the costume, the money spent, the brainless fighting scene. No acting skill is needed for many of the comic movies made. Just a bunch of himbo and bimbo.

PLUS: Not forgetting the script are important.
