A great kids show that suits us adults too. They certainly have a good mix of fun and education. The characters are amazing ! They show that it takes all sorts to make a world and teaches tolerance of others .For once in a kids show the setting is in an ordinary (well perhaps not quite like mine!) street ,not an idylic land .It teaches kids to deal with everyday problems as well as learning basic skills.I am glad to read it is still broadcast.
As a child we had the radio and listened to Toy town ,Listen with mother, and Childrens favorites. When TV came along it was.Andy pandy,Bill and ben, Picture Book,
My favorite was the Wooden tops

Sesame Street is still on most television channels for public viewing. You do not have to be a child to watch it ; never feel that you are to old to watch one of the best television shows in the world.Sesame Street presents learning to children in a very meaningful way; it covers a wide variety of themes , taught in such a way that a small child can understand them at their child-like level , e.g : children taught that strange things happen some-times in ancient tombs, like King Tuk's tomb. Bert and Ernie are in the tomb and Ernie notices first that a mummy was communicating to him ,etc etc..... , scenario is comical, it is exciting and children learn.

I don't have to watch kiddie shows any more, mine are all grown.
But kiddie shows were better back in the 80's & early 90's than what kids have today.

No, I don't miss Sesame Street because I still watch it with my kids EVERYDAY. I think it's THE BEST show for kids on t.v. They like other shows on tv but prefer watching anything on PBS Sprout channel.

if u miss it, it's still on 5 days a week at 8am and 10am. :) My daughter watches it. I totally think it's the best kiddie program out there. Haven't seen one yet that is as entertaining or that teaches as much. Still most of the same characters too! Gordon, Maria, Bob, etc. :)

Those of us who learned how to read from watching "The Electric Company" are far better off than the poor kids who have nothing nowadays. I am constantly quoting/singing excerpts from E.C. to my kids to help them learn to correctly read and spell, since PBS has nothing to offer them. I have seen "Between the Lions" a few times and admit that it's okay, but for some reason it doesn't grab the kids the way that E.C. did. Where have you gone, Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno?
