Hey, i was previously in the state team.. We trained 9 times a week, and i guess, that helps alot in everything.. To improve on smashes, it's not just about ur arm's strength, it's a combination of everything, from how u move, the timing- if u r to do a jumping smash to the angle u hit the shuttlecock.. To improve, u just gotta train.. Train smart.. Physically and mentally.. Mental strength is important too, i remember spending hours in bed imagining my way in court, it helps really, if u dream to be a good player.. =) Badminton is a very lively game, u can see many different styles of playings, one way u can improve is to watch more international players in action.. Look at the way they jump, then imagine urself in their shoes.. Tis' all about psychology.. Next u can do is get a partner slightly better than you to play with, or better get urself a good coach.. But then of course u need to have the strength too.. That u can work on ur own, but technique and strategies of playing, u get it from experience.. Spend more time in court, join more tournaments, losing doesnt matter, it's the lesson and experience that counts.. =)
