I have a special number to call to see whether or not there will be mail delivery in Denver for its employees in the Colorado/Wyoming District due to the Blizzard in our area.
Govenor Owens has issued a State of Emergency for the whole state specifically the Eastern portion of Colorado. The airport is shut down,so that means mail going out of state and/or incoming mail is non-existent today Dec. 20th,and possibly tomorrow Dec. 21st till at least 12 noon.
Any employees that need to know whether or not they should try to report to work on Thursday Dec . 21st are in limbo right now.
I have a number to call a 1-888 number but will not list it here so as to not have people calling it that are not employees wondering whether they will get mail tomorrow or not.
My feeling is that the postmaster of Denver should shut down operations for 1 day tomorrow during this blizzard to prevent any unfortunate accidents or hardships of postal employees.

No mail is not going through..The airport is closed ..still. Also the vehicles called "LLV's" long life vehicles..do not work in the snow, there is no weight in the back of the truck even with mail in the truck ,that is why mail carriers were getting stuck in the snow.
The point is not whether I will get the day off either, the point is whether or not the postmaster will make the right decision and hold off mail operations till Friday in the interest of safety and common sense.

Post Office in Denver closed today..Thursday,Dec. 21st..
I know how important the mail is to everyone ,you don't have to preach to the choir.
Thanks for answering though ,I thought maybe someone might know on here, instead of wondering and not knowing about what to do.
The storm in Denver is very devastating and has closed everything ..Dig out Day today!

Looks like the only guy who's gonna be able to make it into Denver tomorrow- is Santa (& that is ONLY if he brings Rudolph!). However, the season being what it IS, and mail is supposed to be going through whatever; I suspect some valient attempt WILL be made to keep the mail moving. So don't count on your getting the day off from work... -It may simply be a matter of delivering the mail by dogsled- instead of by truck... :) The mail MUST go through... Happy Holidays!

Here's what the USPS delivers; it's not *just* the mail:

"Messenger of Sympathy and Love

Servant of Parted Friends

Consoler of the Lonely

Bond of the Scattered Family

Enlarger of the Common Life

Carrier of News and Knowledge

Instrument of Trade and Industry

Promoter of Mutual Acquaintance

Of Peace and of Goodwill Among Men and Nations"

So please don't let us down. Bundle up tight and be careful out there!
