Yes.
And more often than you'd think, the products being used in the photographs are either different products all together, orenhanced by some other means (ie applying false lashes for a mascara commercial or using an additional medium to make color brighter in an eyeshadow, etc). On top of that, the photos are airbrushed and retouched to eliminate flaws.

Yup. Most models you see with perfect clear skin? They are wearing gobs of make up, and if any flaws show through, they are zapped out with a computer. Now, if you saw these models walking down the street with the amount of make up they've got on in the shoot, you'd start laughing. They'd look like complete clowns! Lighting is another thing. With lights, and the color the person is wearing mixed together, you can look thinner, wider, darker, lighter and everywhere in between, without looking totally unnatural! They use this trick often in movies, and on stages as well. Plus, they often have different make up than what we actually will buy. It's the same brand and all, but they often add things to it to make it stand out more, and to make it look better. What they're wearing and what you buy are very different things when you add all of this together.

They look better because after the photographer takes the picture it goes to a computer were whatever is wrong with the picture people try and fix it. There is also alot of light in the pictures, professional makeup artistis, and professional potorapghers.
