Don't think about the past nor future. Just concentrate on the work of the present.
But it's really a very hard job since our mind is always persuaded by the past and the future. So I suggest you to practice meditation. Here I doesn't mean any religious matter but just the concentration power on the present. The more you gain that power the more consciousness you can achieve.

You would have to be God to achieve perfect consciousness. But you can be more aware, more conscious of yourself and the world through being hyperfocused. This can be achieved through meditation or mild self hypnosis. You can train yourself to deeply concentrate to the point of controlling or altering certain aspects of your being, physically and emotionally. People have been known to rid themselves of diseases or lower their own blood pressure or control pain through these techniques.

I believe that we use only a fraction of our mental capacity. If we learned to use more of it we could do so much more.

To do what? To help the mankind? Perhaps having an objective would help.

It could be that mastering something is achieved by doing it persistently.

perfect consciousness would be a realization of all of reality, and that is simply too much reality for a mind to handle. we all must immerse ourselves in the unreal and the imaginative sometimes, we must go back into the unconscious parts of ourselves, to be able to handle the tiny part of reality that is considered ours to behold.
