Grab the local yellow pages or google the address of the actual Mortgage CO AN PAY THEM directly. They will give you a reciept for another installment,. YOur dad will give you empty bottles for your collection if your lucky. This way Every one wins just keep in mind next month is around the corner and Your name is not on the lease so enableing him month after month will get old and will allow him more free time to drink rather than grow up and pay his own MorTage. Also SUGGESTION Do not say Dad I am going to pay your mtg for you to the company. He will flip out on you I bet you and demad the cash so he can hit the bars. Just do it then wait for him to ask you for it and say Oh I get a huge discount from my bank by having them direclty pay your lender for the montly bill or if it is a one time only thing say I already paid it for you so do not wory your not going to be in the street this month and hand him the classified adds.
With an award willning Daddys girl did a good thing smile! GOOD LUCK

Hi , Sorry you got to deal with a father that drinks .I know all about it.My father was a drunk when I lived at home and long after I left. I would pay the mortgage , because if you give him the money he might loose it or give it away or spend it on beer.I know it's not your responsability but sometimes we just got to do things we dont care to do . God bless &good luck !

Is there a possiblility of writing a check to the mortgage company, and putting the money into the bank? The dad can't spend it if it's made out to the mortgage co.

As a child of alcoholics, I can tell you with confidence that he will drink, lose, or otherwise use that money for something else.
Do not give him a cent.
He is an adult, and it is NOT your responsibility to babysit him. He will not stop this crap until he hits rock bottom and works to better himself.
My husband's dad died last year.....an alcoholic who drank til his dying day.
Take care of yourself.....you're the only YOU you'll ever have.

Ask your mom. She will know what to do. Even if you give it to him when he is sober he will spend it to get drunk again. It is not good for you. Or you may spend that money for running the house.

Surely you could find the payment book and deliver the mortgage money directly without going thru him. Look for it.
Then see about becoming his guardian and send him to dry out. But look for the mortgage payment book and by pass him.

No, never give money to someone that is drunk. Offer to take the burden off of him having to make the mortgage payment and make the payment yourself; that way you know it (and can assure your mother) that it was made.

If he is drunk he could and most likely will do something stupid with it besides pay your mortgage. Keep it till your mom gets back or if you knwo where to send it pay the mortgage yourself...

I wouldn't give it to him. If the money is meant for the mortgage, you pay the mortgage. Alcoholics and drug addicts will often spend their last dime on their addictions, as addiction causes irrational thinking and behavior.
