OK it seems like you already got allot of good advice, and everyone gave practically the same answers I would; but for you and fell4it : Hydrocodone/Vicodin is very dangerous to take at the end of a pregnancy. Not only does it slow your respiration, but it passes through the placenta to baby, and can slow babys respiration as well. Also, babies are very susceptible to addictions. I had a friend who was prescribed Tylenol 3 in her last two weeks (to ease her migraines) and her son was born addicted. They didn't find out until he was withdrawing, and he spent 5 days in the NICU. My friend was devastated, and all the NICU nurses looked at her like a junkie, all though it was legitimately prescribed to her.
I know it's painfull towards the end. My son was 9 days late and 9lb 12oz. I was in agonizing pain. Talk to your doctor about better methods to manage the pain and stick to plain old Tylenol. It will be worth it in the long run!
Congratulations on the new baby! I hope everything turns out great!

I know you are desperate to have this wonderful baby, but be patient and I would suggest you stay away from medications since your priority is your baby's well being. As for getting your child out faster, I know you keep hearing the same things over and over, walk, and sex. Unfortunatly, sex is sometimes out of the questions because you may feel too big or just not comfortable. Therefore, you can try to engage in "foreplay". For example, go in the shower with your man, and have a relaxing, sexual shower or bath. A bath will help you relax even more. Becoming aroused may help ripen your cervix thus will speed up the process. Now, I am certain that sperm will definitely ripen your cervix and if you have an orgasm it will help even more (going back to you getting aroused), but it all depends on how you feel. Again, try to relax though. The more tense you are the more tense you are making your body and that includes your cervix!
I wish you the best of luck and may you have a healthy beautiful baby and a terrific labor as well!

Congratulations!!!
How wonderful for you, even though your doctor sounds a little heartless.
If you are really in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable you SHOULD be at the hospital.
Walking around speeds things up, but it sounds as though you will be in too much discomfort to do this.
Have you tried standing in the shower? This relieved my pain a lot when I was at your stage.
But realistically, unless you are having a home birth, go to the hospital and get yourself monitored. YOU know your body and when you need some assistance, not your doctor. It doesnt matter how 'qualified' they are-they are not in your skin!
Get some friends praying for you and head to the hospital. All the best. - Deborah
***Ignore all those who say you should have sex. You've lost your mucus plug. It is not recommended.

Please don't take any medication that was not prescribed for you while you were pregnant.
Take some long, warm baths. Make sure you have someone there that can help you out of the tub.
Walking is suppose to speed up the labor process. But if you are in that much pain it probably would not be a good idea. Seriously, call your doctor again and tell her how much pain you are in. She may reconsider helping start the process.

You could try walking, but it will probably be painful...Sex, bad idea. You lost your mucus plug and that could introduce bacteria that could cause an infection that could affect the baby. Nothing works for every one. There are a lot of 'home remedies' but most of them are crap. I say go back to the doc and let them know that it's not ok to leave you in that much pain. Good luck, its almost over!!

First of all I am so sorry you are going through this at 3 cm they should just take you in! Do not take a hot bath when you are already dilated. Walking but if it's night already try a rocking chair if you have one, tilt pelvis forward and rock away this speeded up my contractions on my last pregnancy. If you can stand it have sex, you don't have to orgasm you just need your partner's semen. Good luck!

I was told that a good massage with the a CMT who has pregnancy booster pillows (they really support you soooo nicely) is so relaxing it almost always induces labor. It didn't for me but I had a 45 minute drive home through traffic!
The other advice I got over and over and over was to have SEX!!!

Walk around Walmart. That's what our OB's tell us to do. For my first child, I had sex and then the next morning I got out of bed and my water broke. I was 2cm, and had lost my mucus plug 2 weeks before.

if the cramping is 5 min. aside or closer and you will't do or think of approximately something once you're cramping then you definately are in hard artwork. your healthcare expert could have advised you her determination for while to pass yet that's what the nurses in the birthing gadgets in many cases say. good success and congrats.
