Don't wash your hair for a few days and build up a bunch of dandruff. Then bring a picture of a snowy forest and shake your hair all over it at the audition.

Create a character other than yourself.
Even though watching the movie would give you a good idea of how THOSE actors played the parts, the play doesnt necessarily have to be a reproduction of that same movie.
If there's something one of the actors does that you wuold change, or if there's something you think should be done, do it!
The biggest part about characterization for me is that i have to know who exactly the character is. Think about the role that you are playing. What are your character's motivations? What is your character's posture like? What are their mannerisms?
Project confidence to the director (or whoever's castin the show). Even if you dont get a part in the production you're auditioning for, you just showed that you have confidence and aren't afraid to meet a challenge, and that will help you in the long run with that director.
If you forget lines, don't worry, It happens to everyone.
have fun with it!!
GOOD LUCK! =]

When doing theater you should make your hand gestures more pronounced than normal. It is for the audience of course you can take it to far so you should practice in front of a Friend. Make sure your Friend sits at least ten feet away as if he were in the front row of the audience. This should give you an edge over others that are trying for the same part. Acting

Audition for more than one part. You'll improve your chances especially if you are new to the theater group. The best roles usually go to people who have been in prior productions. Be willing to take the role of one of the parents dropping off the students. As they see how hard you work, they'll be willing to give you bigger roles with more lines.
