You can monkey with his diet, avoiding dairy can help. Poor diet adn respiratory allergies, daycare etc.. are all factors in frequency of ear infection. No one here can give you good advice on the tubes because we dont know your sons history of ear infections, balance and gait, tolerance to antibiotics, if the pressure has caused any loss of hearing, how far he is in speech development and aquiring language. What the other poster said about the tubes weaking the ear drum is baloney. I would take my child in for a hearing screen and then get a second opinion using that data. Good luck to you sorting out what is best, i hope he feels better soon.

I would say replace the tubes. You really can't get rid of the fluid any other way and you risk your child having a lot of ear infections. I had the same problem as a kid; I had tubes in my ears until I was 8.

Try putting a drop or two of luke warm olive oil in his ear. It won't solve the problem but it does help the pain a lot. Once your son gets old enough the problem will also correct itself but your still a few years away from that. I'd try the oil for a while and see how that helps.

let the dr do the tubes again. I was fighting insurance companies when my sons needed to be done and he almost lost hearing, the little girl next door has to wear hearing aids because she did not get tubes in time. trust the doc and get the tubes asap

Best to replace the tubes. My daughter had to have them & now my grandson does. Much better than So many ear infections.

wow our dr. said they don't do tubes anymore do to the risk of making the ear weaker and more likely to get future infections, he gave my lil one meds that cleared things up, i forget the name of the meds but it was yellow and smelled kinda like bananas. his ears have been fine since then
