Wait, how bad are the rumors? I've had this situation before whereby a handful of classmates were spreading rumors about another classmate who used to be part of their clique, saying that she is a backstabber. It may be because your 'friends' really dislike you or because they may want your attention. I suggest you to go have a talk with them.

Why are you calling these people your "best friends" if they keep starting rumors about you? Friends are there for one another, and they DO NOT spread rumors about anyone at all. They are not your best friends since they like to start stuff. Drop these so-called best friends and continue to find new friends whom will not only be there for you, but they will not spread rumors about you as well. Your "best friends" are not true friends and you shouldn't be wasting your time around negative people. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Well, if your best friends keep starting rumors about you, maybe they aren't your friends at all! let alone your "best" friends.

sometimes when u treat or call someone as your best friend but they might not think the same. sometimes your existance not really important to them at all...they wll just be there when there are good stuffs for them but when got any troubles they will just 'gone'...missing!most of my college friends are like that!they look nice in front of you but very horrible behind your back! I think they are not appreciate you at all as good friends do not do that kind of thing to a person that they call friend....

Well - obviously they aren't really your friends at all. Ditch them and get some real friends. Real friends don't start rumors and make your life hell.

I dont know but really a best friend wouldnt do anything to hurt another best friend. So do they consider you their best friend like you consider them yours? That is what you should be asking yourself.

BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!! That is the cold hard truth because if they were they would be talking to you, not about you. Believe me, I just ditched someone who called themself my bestfriend because she was bored and making up stuff about me. They aren't worth the headache and somewhere out there is someone who wants to be a true friend to you!! I hope you find them soon!!

maybe because they're not your best friends.
they're either jealous or giving in to peer pressure (just doing it because others will be impressed by them).
confront them. ask them why they're starting rumors about you. make them feel akward, and guilty about what they did. tell me how it goes =) e-mail me. goodluck.
