Correct. Love and Hate are contrasting halves of the same spectrum, but can be felt with the same amount of passion.

How about apathy? where you have no feeling toward a person either way. You certainly don't love them, but you don't have any emotion invested in them to qualify as hate either

Acutally, Hate is the exact opposite of Love. Love and Hate are the two strongest emotions humans can feel.

I have heard it's indifference. The opposite of loving someone is having no feeling towards the person at all. Hating them still involves an emotion.

i think love is the most similar to hate. it's like that political circle (not line) where Fascism is most close to Communism thought they're supposed to be opposites.

It is definitely indifference. If you love something you really care. If you are indifferent you don't care at all. To hate something you have to care at least a little bit.
